Objective:To evaluate the short-term efficacy and long-term efficacy of moxibustion in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis by observing the WOMAC score and VAS score improvement of knee osteoarthritis treated with moxibustion combined with diclofenac sodium. Methods:The selected 60 patients were all from the Acupuncture and Moxibustion Clinic of the Chinese Hospital of Nanjing and the Daishan Community Health Service Center. We used a random number table arranged by the experimental center and divided it into treatment group and control group each with 30 cases. The treatment group was treated with moxibustion in combination with placebo diclofenac sodium gel(Placebo is the same in other components except that it lacks the active ingredient diclofenac sodium and does not contain stimulants or analgesics that may affect the therapeutic effect),the control group was treated only with placebo moxibustion combined with diclofenac sodium gel topcoat. In the two groups of patients, the same three knee points were selected(ie,inside and outside knee eyes and Zusanli). The treatment was performed 3 times a week for 1 or 2 days, and 12 consecutive treatments were performed for 4 weeks. The WOMAC and VAS scores were used as the main observations. After 2 weeks,4 weeks,1 month and 2 months of treatment, the efficacy of WOMAC and VAS scores was evaluated.Results:1.After the end of the last treatment, the clinical efficacy analysis of the two groups(compared with the WOMAC symptom score after 4 weeks of treatment),the total effective rate of the treatment group was 86.7%,and the total effective rate of the control group was 63.3%,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).2.At 2 weeks after treatment,WOMAC and VAS scores were compared between the two groups before treatment and after 2 weeks of treatment. The difference was not statistically significant(p>0.05).Comparison of VAS scores within the two groups, the treatment group and the control group were statistically significant(p<0.01).There was a statistically significant difference in the WOMAC score between the treatment group and the control group(p<0.05).There was no significant difference between the control group and the control group(p>0.05).The results showed that the VAS scores showed a downward trend after two weeks of treatment compared with before treatment. The VAS scores of the treatment group were comparable to those of the control group. After two weeks of treatment,WOMAC scores improved in the treatment group compared with before treatment, but there was no improvement in the control group.3.At the 4th week of treatment, there was a statistically significant difference in WOMAC scores between the two groups and between the two groups before and after the treatment(p<0.05);There was no significant difference in VAS scores between the two groups(p>0.05).There was a statistically significant difference in VAS scores between the two groups(p<0.05).The results showed that the VAS scores of the two groups after 4 weeks of treatment compared with those before the treatment were significantly improved in both the treatment group and the control group. The WOMAC scores in both groups improved significantly after 4 weeks of treatment compared with those before treatment. The treatment group was superior to the control group.4.At the first month and the second month after the treatment was completed, before and after the first and second months of treatment, the differences in the VAS scores within the two groups and between the two groups were statistically significant.Significance(p<0.05).There was a statistically significant difference in the WOMAC score between the treatment group and the control group(p<0.05).There was no significant difference in the WOMAC score between the control group and the control group(p>0.05).There was a statistically significant difference between the two groups in the WOMAC score(p<0.05).The results showed that the VAS scores were improved in both groups after the first and second months of treatment compared with before treatment. The two groups had comparable long-term results in improving the VAS score. After the first and second months of treatment, the two groups were compared with those before treatment,WOMAC scores improved in the treatment group compared with before,There was no improvement in the control group, and the long-term effect in the treatment group was better than that in the control group. Conclusion:Moxibustion combined with diclofenac sodium gel for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis has certain clinical efficacy in improving VAS score and WOMAC score. The improvement of WOMAC score indicates that the combination of moxibustion and placebo diclofenac sodium gel has short-term and long-term efficacy. The short-term curative effect of placebo moxibustion combined with diclofenac sodium gel method is not better than that of moxibustion combined with placebo diclofenac sodium gel method. The placebo moxibustion combined with diclofenac sodium gel does not have long-term efficacy. The improvement of VAS score indicates that the short-term curative effect of moxibustion combined with placebo diclofenac sodium gel method is superior to that of placebo moxibustion combined with diclofenac sodium gel,and the long-term efficacy is equivalent to the two methods.
