Peel-away Sheath Assisted Ureteroscopic Lithotripsy In The Treatment Of Female Lower Ureteral Calculi

Objective: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of peel-away sheath assisted ureteroscopic lithotripsy in the treatment of female lower ureteral calculi.Methods: A total of 50 patients with lower ureteral calculi who underwent ureteroscopic lithotripsy in the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University from December 2015 to September 2017 were divided into two groups.Peel-away sheath assisted ureteroscopic lithotripsy(observation group)and single ureteroscopic lithotripsy(control group).The operative time,stones clearing rate and incidence of complications were compared between the two groups.Results: There were no significant difference in age,course of disease,length of diameter of calculus and history of ureteral surgery between the two groups(P>0.05).Compare observation group and control group,in terms of surgical efficacy.The mean operating time were 22.4 ± 6.9min and 30.3 ± 8.6min.There was a significant difference between the two groups(P <0.05).The stone clearance rate were 100% and 76% on the first day after operation.There was a significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05).The mean postoperative hospital stay were 2(1-3)and 2(1-4)days.There was no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).In terms of operative complications,there was a significant difference in the incidence of postoperative infection(8% vs 36%)between the two groups(P<0.05).The incidence of mild injury(20% vs 68%)was significant(P<0.05).No severe ureteral injury was found.There was no significant difference in the rate of ureteral stricture(0% vs 1%)(P>0.05).Conclusion: Peel-away sheath assisted ureteroscopic lithotripsy for female lower ureteral calculi can significantly save the operation time.It has the advantages of small injury,high rate of clear stone,and low postoperative infection rate.It is a safe and effective surgical method.It is worthy of clinical promotion.
