Objective:To evaluate the reliability and validity of the sensory profile(0-3years).To analyze the ability of infant/toddler sensory processing of typically-developing children and autistic spectrum disorders children. Methods:A total of 480 typically-developing children(200 of 0-6 months,280 of 7-36 months)and 41 children diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorderwere selected as sample, and all the diagnoses were based on Diagnostic andStatistical Manual of Mental Disorders-fifth edition.Parents or caregivers of the 484 children(443 TD children and 41 ASD children)completed the sensory profile to evaluate the reliability, validity and the ability of sensory processing.Internal reliability(internal consistency)was evaluated with Cronbach's coefficient.Test-retest reliability was examined using the data of 5%sample size at least(ten of 0-6 months, twenty of 7-36 months).Validity was assessed with exploratory factor analysis.Content validity was measured by Spearman rank correlation coefficients.Discriminate validity was examined by comparing the scores between TD group and ASD group. The data of Chinese version sensory profile of TD children and ASD children were further analyzed. We calculated the rate of sensory processing disorder and the current situation of each section and quadrant. Results:The Cronbach's alpha for both sections(0-6months and 7-36months)of the sensory profile were 0.720 and 0.871.The test-retest reliability was 0.659.The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin(KMO)measures of sampling adequacy were 0.646 and 0.772.Using principal component analysis(pea),all dimensions were within the acceptable range, the correlation coefficient between total score and each item score were 0.371 to 0.856.The rate of sensory processing disorder of TD group and ASD group were 29.1%and 85.4%.The rate of definite difference of sensory processing sections and sensory profile quadrants of TD group were 2.4%-13.2%and 4.0%-11.7%.The rate of definite difference of sensory processing sections and sensory profile quadrants of ASD group were 7.3%-39.0%and 4.9%-70.7%.Conclusions:The reliability and validity of the sensory profile was satisfactory and the results were consistent with the English version of the scale. It can be used for screening of sensory processing disorder in clinic. This study demonstrated each sensory section is different and the prevalence of sensory processing disorder in ASD is pretty high. The results of this study provide the basis for personalized intervention and guidance.
