Objective:To analyze the effect of self-perceived aging on the quality of life of elderly hypertensive patients in rural areas, and to provide theoretical basis for the development of targeted interventions for improving the quality of life of elderly hypertensive patients in rural areas. Methods:This was a cross-sectional study by convenient sampling.A total of 527 elderly hypertensive patients in the community hospitals of Changshu City were selected to investigate the quality of life of elderly hypertensive patients in rural areas by using the general data questionnaire, the 49-item Aging Perceptions Questionnaire(APQ)and the SF-36 Health Scale Questionnaire. The status of self-perceived aging and quality of life, and the relationship of them were explored in rural elderly patients with hypertension.Results:1.The total score of quality of life in elderly hypertensive patients in rural areas was75.35 ± 14.93,of which the physical health score was 73.46 ± 16.58,and the mental health score was 77.25 ± 15.13.2.Among the scores of each dimension of self-perceived aging in rural elderly hypertensive patients, the score of dimension named“consequences negative”was the highest(3.61±0.57),while the score of dimension named “emotional representations” was the lowest(2.60 ± 0.59).3.Spearman correlation analysis showed: the five dimensions named “timeline chronic”,“timeline cyclical”,“emotional representations” and “control positive” were correlated with physical and mental health of quality of life, and Correlation coefficient were(r=-0.272,p<0.001)and(r=-0.213,p<0.001)?(r=0.152,p<0.001)and(r=0.146,p<0.001)?(r=-0.373,p<0.001)and(r=-0.355,p<0.001)?(r=0.119,p=0.006)and(r=0.108,p=0.013),respectively.4.The results of unconditional multivariate linear regression showed: the dimensions named “emotional representations” [B=-9.511,p<0.001,95%CI(-11.887,-7.135)],“timeline cyclical” [B=5.096,p=0.004,95%CI(1.667,8.525)],“control positive”[B=3.900,p=0.011,95%CI(0.910,6.890)],“timeline chronic” [B=-3.644,p<0.001,95%CI(-5.543,-1.745)] and “control positive” [B=-3.028,p=0.017,95%CI(-5.503,-0.552)] became the factors to affect the physical health, while “emotional representations” [B=-7.666,p<0.001,95%CI(-9.850,-5.481)] and “timeline cyclical”[B=5.980,p<0.001,95%CI(2.815,9.146)] became the factors to affect the mental health of quality of life in rural patients with hypertension. Conclusion:In the rural elderly hypertensive patients,self-perceived aging is more negative, the quality of life is significantly lower than the general population? In order to improve the quality of life in rural hypertensive patients, medical staff should pay attention to the improvement of level of self-perceived aging by taking suitable interventions.
