Background:Acne vulgaris is a common chronic inflammatory skin disease that occurs in the hair follicle sebaceous glands, usually starting from adolescence. The pathogenesis of acne is complex, but which has a close relationship with the microbes sojourned in the skin follicle sebaceous glands, especially P.acnes.P.acnes is a Gram-positive anaerobic bacteria, which is the dominant bacteria in the acne patients’hair follicle sebaceous glands and plays an important role in a number of pathogenic links.Compound Phellodendron Liquid(CPL)is developed by the director Xie Jinglong, according to years of.clinical experience with five traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)Forsythia,Phellodendron,Honeysuckle,Dandelion,Centipede.CPL is now used for sore ulcers,Traumatic infection and other diseases with detoxification, swelling and decoction functions, which clinical findings can also be used to treat mild to moderate acne. Objective:To carry out the in vitro antibacterial test of the aqueous solution of CPL and its constituent TCM on the standard strain of P.acnes,For its treatment of acne to provide a certain experimental basis. Methods:The broth dilution method was used to measure the MIC of CPL and its constituent TCM,taking Erythromycin Lactobionate as the positive control group,Physiological Saline as the negative control group. Results:The MIC of the CPL and its constituent TCM Forsythia,Phellodendron,Honeysuckle and Dandelion were 101 mg/ml,202 mg/ml,50.5 mg/ml,50.5 mg/ml,404 mg/ml,while Centipede at the concentration of 404 mg/ml had no antibacterial effect. The MIC of Erythromycin Lactobionate in the positive control group was 12.7μg/ml.Negative control group had no bacteriostatic effect.Conclusion:1.CPL and its composition TCM Phellodendron,Honeysuckle has a good effect on the inhibition of Propionibacterium acnes,Forsythia,Dandelion antibacterial effect is weak, not measured MIC of Centipede.2.Compared with its constituent TCM,the MIC of CPL is lower than that of Forsythia,Dandelion and higher than that of Phellodendron and Honeysuckle.3.The mechanism of CPL in the treatment of acne may be related to its inhibition of Propionibacterium acnes.
