ObjectiveTo explore the effect of TBL combined with dynamic case scenario simulation training on the core competency, work engagement and self-efficacy of ICU nurses and to investigate the role of TBL combined with dynamic case scenario simulation TBL combined with dynamic case scenario simulation playing on junior nurses' training in ICU,and provide a reference for the establishment of junior nurse training mode in ICU.MethodsIt was a quasi-experimental study.Junior nurses who were recruited randomly from two partition in ICU of a tertiary hospital in Hengyang were divided into the control group and the intervention group equally(n=40).Eventually 38 nurses in the control group and 39 nurses in the intervention group completed the research. The control group received the routine training of ICU nurses and the intervention group received training of TBLcombined with dynamic case scenario simulation for 12 months on the basis of routine training of ICU nurses. All nurses in the sample were investigated by Competency Inventory for Registered Nurse,Work Engagement Scale and General Self-Efficacy Scale before the intervention, after 6-months intervention and after 12-months intervention. The data was input by SPSS18.0 and analyzed by descriptive statistics,chi-square test,t test,ANOVA of repeated measures and so on.Results1.There were no statistical differences of basic information such as gender, marital status, working years in ICU and etc.between the two groups(P>0.05).2.Before the intervention, total mean score of Competency Inventory for Registered Nurse,Work Engagement Scale,General Self-Efficacy Scale and mean score of each dimension were no statistically significant different(P>0.05)between control group and intervention group.3.After 6-months?intervention,total mean score of core competency, mean score of professional development,legal/ethical practice and critical thinking/ research aptitude in the intervention group were higher than the control group score in each dimension, there were statistically significant differences(P<0.05);mean score of clinical care, interpersonal relation, leadership and teaching-coaching showed no statistically significant differences(P>0.05)compared with those in the control group.After12-months?intervention,mean score of leadership showed no statistically significant differences(P>0.05)compared with those in the control group;total mean score of core competency and mean score of the rest of dimension were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).4.After 6-months ? intervention, total mean score of work engagement and mean score of vigor in the intervention group were higher than the control group score in each dimension, there were statistically significant differences(P<0.05);mean score of dedication and absorption were compared with those in the control group, the differences were not statistically significant(P>0.05).After 12-months?intervention,total mean score of work engagement and mean score of each dimension were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).5.After 6-months?intervention and 12-months?intervention,total mean score of general self-efficacy was higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions1.TBL combined with dynamic case scenario simulation training method was beneficial to improve the core competency of junior nurses in ICU.2.TBL combined with dynamic case scenario simulation training method was beneficial to improve junior nurses' general self-efficacy andwork engagement in ICU effectively and encourage the initiative of the nurses to learn.
