ObjectiveTo observe the effects of motor function in lower limb in treating stroke by head needle combined with acupuncture in Botswana patients, what afford the clinic reference and improve the nerve system function, action ability, and daily life quality, release the pain for the patients.MethodsEighty-four patients with stable stroke within 6 months after the onset were enrolled in the research. They were randomly distributed into two groups, head needle and triditional acupuncture treatment group,42 patients in each group. Both groups treated with routine treatment and nursing rehabilitation, patients in treatment group were treated with scalp acupuncture and body acupuncture. The control group patients were treated with conventional acupuncture. Both groups patients were treated once a day, five times a week,a course of four weeks. All patients assessed before and after treating period. The evaluating tools include:Fugl-Meyer Assessment scale(FMA)for the motor function of lower limbs, clinical study chinese medicine treatment guidelines for stroke,CSS and Ashworth scale.ResultNormal data comparison:There were 25 male patients,17 female patients in the treatment group. The youngest was 41 years old,the oldest 68 years old.Mean age 51.23±6.25.The shortest course of the disease 3 weeks, the longest 6 weeks. There were 23 male patients,19 female patients in the treatment group. The youngest was 40 years old,the oldest 70 years old.Mean age 53.23±7.21.The shortest course of the disease 3 weeks, the longest 11 weeks. There were no statistics differences in age, gender, degree of education,Brunnstrom stage and course of disease in both groups.Data analysisThe treatment group and control group have significant effects in lower limb motorfunction(Treatment group was80.95%,control group 61.90%).Treatment group scores before treatment:FMA score 16.56±4.99,clinical study Chinese medicine treatment guidelines for stroke score 22.34±5.33,CSS score 7.45±4.06.The scores after treatment:FMA score 21.45±3.88,clinical study Chinese medicine treatment guidelines for stroke score 15.09±4.63,CSS score4.65±2.56.There was a significant effect before and after treatment.(P<0.01)The control group scores before treatment:FMA score 15.67±3.56,clinical study Chinese medicine treatment guidelines for stroke score 20.23±4.09,CSS score 6.65±3.53.The scores after treatment:FMA score 17.35±2.67,clinical study Chinese medicine treatment guidelines for stroke score 13.45±3.55,CSS score4.78±3.59.There was a significant effect before and after treatment.(P<0.01)ConclusionThe treatment result showed the scalp acupuncture combined with body acupuncture therapy and traditional body acupuncture therapy for stroke hemiplegia have a certain therapeutic effect. The data demonstrated that both groups can improved motor function of lower limb and nerve system, decreased the clinical study Chinese medicine treatment guidelines for stroke score. There were no significant differernces between two groups in treatment of lower limbs hypermyotonia.
