Effects Of Candesartan On Patients With Essential Hypertension And Simple Hyperuricemia In Uric Acid Excretion

Objective We surveyed the changes of serum uric acid,24 hours urine uric acid and the clearance rate of uric acid of the patients with essential hypertension and simple hyperuricemia,in the case of removing the acquired factors which have effects on the excretion of uric acid,after antihvpertensive treatment with Candesartan.So the effect of Candesartan on uric acid excretion can be determined and patients can take the right antihypertensive agents.Methods A total of 79 EH patients complicated with simple hyperuricemia,who seeked for medical consultation in the Affiliated Hospital of Hebei University during the past 16 months,participated in this study.Fasting blood glucose,blood lipids(cholesterol,triglycerides),serum creatinine,urine PH,24 hours urine protein and urine were measured before and after the experiment.Tumor markers,thyroid function,body mass index were measured before the experiment.The above indexes of all participants were normal and the body mass index 18.5-28.All the patients have a low purine diet and they drank 2000 ml water one day during the study.After 14 days they started to take Candesartan for 3 weeks.The serum uric acid,24 hours urine uric acid,clearance rate of uric acid and the correct clearance rate of uric acid were measured before and after treatment.Results After they take Candesartan for 3 weeks,the blood pressure dropped,mean arterial blood pressure(before therapy 115.4±8.6 vs after therapy 98.0±6.6mmHg,P<0.01).There are no significant changes in the serum uric acid and the correct clearance rate of uric acid(the serum uric acid:before therapy 531.92±77.55 vs after therapy 529.31±83.05 umol/L,P>0.05 and the correct clearance rate of uric acid:before therapy 14.16±2.35 vs after therapy 14.31±2.50 ml/min,P>0.05).Conclusion Candesartan reduces mean arterial blood pressure,and there are no effects on uric acid excretion.
