Objective:To investigate the expression and clinical significance of Ki67(nuclear-associate antigen),CgA(chromogranin A)and CT(calcitonin)in medullary thyroid carcinoma(MTC).Methods:In Fujian Provincial Hospital from 2011 to 2016,retrospective analysis was used for patients pathologically confirmed with thyroid carcinoma;35 patients were pathologically indentified as MTC postoperatively. They were selected for IHC,which were staining by the Elivison two-step method to detect the expression levels of CgA,Ki67 and CT in MTC;statistical analyses were performed on the relevant clinical data by using SPSS 22.0 software. Results:In 35 cases of MTC patients,28 were sporadic MTC,and 7 hereditary MTC,which were among the 35 patients with MTC,.The average age was 47.6(range: 22-66)years;specifically,the average age of patients with hereditary MTC was 40.4±13.6 years, and the average age of patients with sporadic MTC was 49.6±9.2 years.Hereditary MTC and sporadic MTC presented statistically significant differences in patient age and number of lesions. However, they were not related with sex, tumor size, thyroid fibrous capsule involvement, lymph node metastasis, site of lymph node metastasis,or clinical stage. The IHC results suggested the CgA expression rate of 60.0%(21/35),the Ki67 expression rate of 100%(35/35),and the CT expression rate of 97.1%(34 /35).Specifically,CgA expression was related with tumor size, thyroid fibrous capsule involvement and lymph node metastasis. But it was not related with patient age, sex, number of lesions, site of lymph node metastasis,or clinical stage;Ki67 expression was not related with patient age, sex, tumor size, number of lesions, thyroid fibrous capsule involvement, lymph node metastasis, site of lymph node metastasis,or clinical stage;CT expression was related with tumor size, yet not related with patient age, sex, number of lesions, thyroid fibrous capsule involvement, site of lymph node metastasis,or clinical stage.ConclusionCgA,Ki67 and CT had increased expression in MTC;CgA and CT expression is associated with the development and progression of MTC,indicating that they may be important markers for the biological behavior of MTC,and their expression levels may be used as prognostic indicators for these patients.
