The Clinical Study Of Treating Irritable Bowel Syndrome With Diarrhea(Liver Stagnation And Spleen Deficiency) With Medicine-separated Moxibustion

Objective: To observe and compare the clinical efficacy and the quality of life of medicine-separated moxibustion and Pinaverium Bromide for liver stagnation and spleen deficiency of diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome(IBS-D),thus to provide some reference for the treatment of this disease.Methods: A total of 104 cases with liver stagnation and spleen deficiency of IBS-D were includes in this trail.They were randomly allocated into an treatment group(n=52)and a control group(n=52)by random number.Patients in the treatment group received medicine-separated moxibustion which was made from the herbal prescripion of the Tongxieyaofang,and the points included Shenque(RN8),Sibianxue(extra point),Pishu(BL20),Jizhong(DU6),Dachangshu(BL25),Yaoyangguan(DU3),the treatment was conducted twice a week,in total eight times.While the control group only received the drug of Pinaverium Bromide three times one day.The efficacy of both groups was observed after four weeks.Results:1.There were no significant differences of the two groups of patients before treatment in gender,age,course of disease(P>0.05),comparable.2.There were no significant differences of the two groups of patients before treatment in the Traditional-Chinese-Medicine-symptom-scores(P>0.05),comparable.After the treatment,the Traditional-Chinese-Medicine-symptom-scores in distension of hypocardium,abdominal distention,loose stool,depression and irritability,loss of bowel gas,pain of diarrhea symptoms efficacy in the treatment group was significantly higher than in the control group,showing a between-group statistical differences(P<0.05);Follow-up examination after treatments showed that all symptoms efficacy in the treatment group was significantly higher than in the control group(P<0.05).3.There were no significant differences of the two groups of patients before treatment in the IBS-QOL scores(P>0.05),comparable.After treatment,the IBS-QOL scores in alldimensions were significantly increased in both groups,showing intra-group statistical differences(P<0.05).The IBS-QOL scores for the evaluation of Dysphoria,Interference with activity and Health worry in the treatment group were significantly higher than in the control group(P<0.05),showing a between-group statistical differences;Follow-up examination after treatments showed that Dysphoria,Interference with activity,Health worry and Food avoidance in the treatment group were significantly higher than in the control group(P<0.05),showing a between-group statistical differences.while the other dimensions scores of two groups had no difference,showing no between-group statistical differences(P>0.05).4.There were no significant differences of the two groups of patients before treatment in the SF-36 survey(P>0.05),comparable.After treatment,the scores based on the SF-36 survey in all dimensions were significantly increased in both groups,showing significantly intra-group statistical differences(P<0.05).The scores based on the SF-36 survey on Bodily Pain,Social Functioning,Role-Emotional and Mental Health in the treatment group were significantly higher than in the control group,showing significantly between-group statistical differences(P<0.05);During the follow-up examination,the scores based on the SF-36 survey of all conditions except General Health and Vitality in the treatment group were significantly higher than in the control group,showing significantly between-group statistical differences(P<0.05).Conclusion: Both medicine-separated moxibustion and Pinaverium Bromide can improve the symptoms and life quality of IBS-D patients(liver stagnation and spleen deficiency).But medicine-separated moxibustion is better than the Pinaverium Bromide in the improvement of short-term and long-term clinical symptoms and quality of life.
