Objective To explore the effection of health management guided by Interaction Model of Client Health Behavior on lifestyles, clinical indexes and satisfaction of Type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)patients in community. Methods A quasi-experiment design was used in this study.Patients who came from two community health service centers of similar size and scale, and were admitted into a certain hospital due to type 2 diabetes from March to July in 2015 and discharged from the hospital in a stable state of illness, were selected by purposive sampling method. In accordance with the community health service center they belonged to,they were divided into the experimental group and control group. The patients in the experimental group received the health management based on Interaction Model of Client Health Behavior, and the patients in control group were given the traditional health managment. The duration time of health management was 12 months. At 0 month,6 months and 12 months after intervention, the lifestyles,waist-hip ratio(WHR),body mass index(BMI),fasting plasma glucose(FPG)and HbA1 c of the two groups were collected, and after 12 months of intervention, the satisfaction of patients toward health management were scored.Results1.According to the diagnostic, inclusion and exclusion criteria,110 patients with type 2 diabetes were selected in this study. The experimental group and control group had 55 cases respectively. After 12 months of intervention, the experimental group was shedding 4 patients, while the control group was shedding 5 patients.101 patients were analyzed eventually for this study.2.Before the intervention, there were no significant differences in the demography, lifestyles,BMI,WHR,FPG and HbA1 c of patients between two groups(P>0.05).3.The diatery structure, score of FTND and PARS-3,WHR,FPG and HbA1 c of patients in the experienmental group were significantly better than those in the control group afer 6 months and 12 months of intervention(P<0.05),the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).But there were no significant differences in score of AUDIT and BMI of two groups at each time point(P<0.05).4.After 12 months of intervention, the score of satisfaction toward health management in the experienmental group was higher than that in the control group, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusions The health management that is guided by Interaction Model of Client Health Behavior plays an active role in correcting unhealthy lifestyles of imbalanced diatery structure, smoking and insufficient exercise, improving WHR,FPG,HbA1 c and satisfaction toward health management for patients with T2DM.The health management based on Interaction Model of Client Health Behavior could be an effective intervention for patients with T2DM.
