Objective:To investigate the clinical effect of probiotics in treating the functional diarrhea by metaanalysis, providing the clinical evidences for the medication on the functional diarrhea.Methods:1.Refences from the databases of PUBMED,EMBASE,Cochrane Library,CBM,CNKI,Wanfang during the moment of databases establishment to June 2016 were collected by the computer software. The random clinical trials were included into the meta-analysis.2.The quality of references were evaluated by the risk of bias appraisal tool of Cochrane, including the random sequence generation, allocation concealment, blinding of participants and personnel, blinding of outcome assessment, incomplete outcome data, selective reporting and other bias.3.The major information and data was collected and arranged by the MS Office Excel 2010.4.The meta-analysis was checked by ReviewManagement 5.3,including the effective index, heterogeneity test, main test of meta-analysis,bias test and sensitivity detection.Results:1.6 random clinical trials were included into the meta-analysis.The mean outcome was the total effective rate. With the heterogeneity test, there was no difference between each groups(c2=1.73,df=5,I2=0%,P>0.05).Then by means of the meta-analysis of fixed effect model, there was the difference in the total effective rate, which the clinical effect in the intervening group of probiotics for the functional diarrhea was better than the control one with the conventional treatment. And the Funnel plot had shown that the figure was left-right asymmetry.Since it was not the typical funnel-shaped,there was the publication bias in those references.2.Then the sensitivity analysis was used.Excluded the reference of Wu Xiao-Jian 2014(Weight=0.00%),there was no difference in the heterogeneity test(c2=1.47,df=4,I2=0%,P=0.83>0.05).With the fixed effect model, the total effective rate in the invention group of another 5 references was better than the control one,and there was the difference(OR=4.71,95%CI 2.92~7.59,P=0.00<0.05).Excluded the reference of Chen GuoYi 2012(Weight=0.00%),there was no difference in the heterogeneity test(c2=0.38,df=4,I2=0%,P=0.98>0.05).With the fixed effect model, the total effective rate in the invention group of another 5 references was better than the control one,and there was the difference(OR=5.34,95%CI 3.29~8.66,P=0.00<0.05).Excluded the references of Chen GuoYi 2012 and Wu Xiao-Jian 2014(Weight=0.00%),there was no difference in the heterogeneity test(c2=0.22,df=3,I2=0%,P=0.97>0.05).With the fixed effect model, the total effective rate in the invention group of another 5 references was better than the control one,and there was the difference(OR=5.16,95%CI 3.10~8.57,P=0.00<0.05).Conclusion:There were not so many researches on the clinical effect of probiotics in treating the functional diarrhea, especially being lack of the high-quality references.Based on the forthcoming researches, the probiotics could treat with the functional diarrhea by improving the clinical effects. However, there was the publishing bias which was related to the diagnostic criteria, curative effect evaluation system and the quality of references. Therefore, more clinical multi-center randomized controlled studies with large sample could be the supplement and evidence to direct the treating of functional diarrhea.
