Background:Studies showed it had positive effects in diagnosing and assessing the severity and prognosis of stroke with some biomarkers as S100? protein and C-reactive protein(CRP)both at home and abroad, but there were not enough studies for acute severe cerebral infarction specially;investigating the relationship between the biomarkers with the severity and the pathway of the disease in short time of acute severe cerebral infarction patients would contribute to the guidance of patients' current available treatments and getting knowledge of prognosis and tailoring secondary prevention while improving prognosis. Objective:To investigate the correlation with the concentration of serum S100?,CRP and the degree of neurological function defects and prognosis of patients of acute severe cerebral infarction in charge.Methods:(1)40 cases were enrolled and the venous blood samples were obtained at admission and measured by method of ELISA while the degree of neurological function defects of patients of aute severe cerebral infarction were assessed by National Institute of Health stroke scale(NIHSS),and 37 cases of minimal cerebral infarction were enrolled at the same period.(2)Having follow-up visits at days 30 and 90 since in charge face-to-face or by telephone, and assessing the recovery by modified Ranking Scale(mRS)respectively, then investigating the correlation with outcome of acute severe cerebral infarction patients and the concentration of serum S100?,CRP.(3)To process data and divide the patients into groups as death, deterioration, stabilization and improvement, then investigating the relationship between serum S100?,CRP and the change of the disease of acute severe cerebral infarction in 90 days.Results:(1)There was a positive correlation between serum CRP and the degree of neurological function defects while there was no relationship between serum S100? protein and the degree of neurological function defects, and it showed no correlation between serum S100? protein and the CRP.(2)It showed a positive correlation between the prognosis at days 30 and 90 and serum CRP,and there was no correlation between serum S100? protein and the prognosis at days 30 and 90 respectively.(3)It showed a negative correlation between the tendency of the disease in 90 days and serum CRP.Conclusions:(1)The higher concentration of serum CRP had a positive correlation with the severity of neurological function defects and poor prognosis in 90 days of acute severe cerebral infarction patients.(2)It didn't show significant correlations between the level of serum S100? and the severity of neurological function defects and prognosis of acute severe cerebral infarction patients..
