Objective To observe the changes of matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2) and highsensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP)of cerebral infarction patients at differentaltitudes(the altitude of Xining City, Qinghai province:2200m; altitude of Haixi,Qinghai province:3500m; altitude of Guanghan city in Sichuan province:400m). Isadvantageous to the plateau of acute cerebral ischemic cerebrovascular events earlyidentification and early intervention. Methods To select49residents in Xining,43residents in Haixi and47residents inGuanghan and observe the trend of the changes of matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP2) and high sensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) at7d and17d in48hours and compare the data with normal people. Results Serum MMP-2and hs-CRP level in different altitudes are all increased within48h, in7th day and14th day (P<0.05). Serum MMP-2level of ACI patients indifferent altitudes is increased obviously in7th day; hs-CRP level is increasedobviously within48h(P<0.05) and the level in Haixi is higher than of Xining and thelevel of Xining is higher than of Sichuan. Both indexes are positively correlated withthe infarct volume size and the neurologic impairment extent and are negativelycorrelated with prognosis. Conclusion MMP-2and hs-CRP of the patients at different altitudes can help todefine the size of infarction, the condition and prognosis.
