Objective:To investigate the incidence of emotion, sleep and cognitive impairment in patients with hemifacial spasm(HFS).Methods:Thirty patients with hemifacial spasm from the Department of Neurology, the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University from January 2015 to February 2017 were enrolled in the study. The age,sex and educational level were matched with 30 healthy controls. The hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA),the 17-version Hamilton depression scale(HAMD),the Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI),and ADDENBROOKE'S cognitive function test,ACE-? were conducted for both groups, and the data were input into SPSS 21.0 software for comparative analysis.Results:(1)Anxiety assessment showed that the incidence of anxiety[14(46.7%)]was higher than that of the healthy control group[5(16.7%)],the difference was statistically significant(x2=6.239,p=0.012);the incidence of anxiety was not related to the degree of spasms, the difference was not statistically significant(x2=3.106,P=0.795);The proportion of female patients with anxiety[12/20(60.0%)]was higher than that of male patients[2/10(20.0%)],but the difference was not statistically significant(P=0.058);The proportion of patients with anxiety ?10 years(5/5(100.0%))was significantly higher than that of patients<10 years(9/25(36.0%)),the difference was statistically significant(P=0.014);(2)Depression assessment showed that the incidence of depression was[12(40%)],which was significantly higher than that of the healthy control group[4(13.3%)],showing a significant difference(x2=5.A55,P=0.020);the incidence of depression was not related to the degree of spasms, the difference was not statistically significant(x2=4.098,P = 0.663);The proportion of depression in female patients[11/20(55.5%)]was significantly higher than that of male[1/10(10.0%)],the difference was statistically significant(P =0.024);the proportion of patients with depression>10 years[5/5(100.0%)]was obviously higher than that of patients<10 years(7/25(28.0%)),the difference was statistically significant(P=0.006);(3)Sleep assessment showed that,in the patient group and control group,Subjective sleep quality(2.00±1.00 vs 1.00±1.25,z=-2.700,P=0.007),sleep latency(2.00±1.00 vs 1.00±1.00,z=-3.485,P=0.000),Sleep persistence(1.00±2.00 vs 0.00±1.00,z=-2.263,P=0.024)?Daytime dysfunction(1.00±1.25 vs 1.00±1.00,z=-2.350,P=1.019),The total score(7.47±4.78 vs 4.23±3.23,t=-3.070,P=0.003);Habitual sleep efficiency(1.00±2.00 vs 0.00±1.00,z=1.626,P=0.104).104),Sleep disorder(1.00±0.25 vs 1.00±1.00,z=-1.040,P=0.299),Sleep medication(0.000±0.00 vs 0.00±0.00,z=-1.043,P=0.297);(4)cognitive function assessment,Compared with the control group,Attention(17.00±2.25 vs 17.00±2.00,z=-0.241,P=0.810),Memory(19.57±4.6 vs 18.43±4.24,t=-0.992,P=0,325),Language fluency(9.53±2.49 vs 10.37±2.27,t=1.356,P=0.180),language(18.63±2.55vs19.87±2.37,t=1.938,P=0.058),Visual space(13.27±3.11 vs 14.23±1.87,t=1.460,P=0.150),ACE? total score(77.60±11.47 vs 79.30±7.37,t=0.683,P=0.497).Conclusion:Anxiety,depression and sleep problems widely existed in patients with hemifacial spasm. The anxiety and sleep quality of patients with tianse muscle spasms should be strengthened to improve the life quality of patients.
