Objective: The aim of this study was to preliminary discussion on the relevance between periodontitis ? tooth loss and Body mass index in elderly.Methods:381examination as the research object in the first affiliated hospital of xinjiang medical university medical center From March 2016 to may.Having questionnaire investigation, oral cavity and the height, weight, blood biochemical examination.According to the size of BMI(Body mass index,BMI),the study population was divided into normal, overweight and obesity group to comparative.Using Logistic regression, linear regression,Spearman rank correlation respectively for BMI and periodontitis, missing teeth,Posterior occluding pairs number between the correlation analysis. Results: 1.The prevalence of periodontitis, teeth missing rate distribution among three groups on the difference was statistically significant(p < 0.05),the proportion of individuals about not for denture after missing teeth in obese group is bigger than the normal group, the difference was statistically significant(p =0.001).2.Periodontitis Logistic regression analysis results show that BMI is a risk factor for periodontitis(OR=1.384,p < 0.05),but there is no obvious correlation between them(p>0.05).3.Tooth loss Logistic regression analysis results show that there is obvious correlation between tooth loss and BMI,Linear regression analysis showed there is a linear relationship between BMI and the number of missing teeth(b=0.3143,p =0.001),Spearman rank correlation analysis showed that a weak negative correlation between POPs and BMI.(r=-0.152,p =0.003)Conclusion: The increased levels of the BMI indexis a risk factor for periodontitis in elderly, but the correlation between them is not sure;As the missing teeth number increase or POPs to reduce,BMI index showed a trend of increase,This shows that the teeth missing may affect the BMI.
