Benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH)is as common a part of aging as gray hair, which is not life-threatening,but causes unpleasant and sometimes aggravating symptoms, such as weak urine flow, inability to empty the bladder completely and frequent urination at night.Symptoms of BPH may become worse over time, which do not necessaryily become more severe based on the size of the prostate. While people who are attacked by BPH should see a doctor early. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of acupuncture with tamsulosin on dysuria caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia which was the common, frequently occurring disease in the middle-old age and made people's life worse and sufferd from mental disorders.Acupuncture used to cure a wide range of diseases especially pains was also benefit to urinary diseases like dysuria. This dissertation is divided into four parts.ObjectiveThis research was to investigate the effect of acupuncture with tamsulosin on dysuria compared with single tamsulosin treatment, according to the changes of international prostate symptom score(IPSS),the quality of life questionare(QOL),maximum flow rate(Qmax),as well as residual urine volume(RV)before and after treatment, aiming to reduce patients' lower urinary tract symptoms and improve their quality of life.MethodsA total of 80 patients diagnosed BPH were randomized to receive a 4-week treatment with acupuncture combined with tamsulosin or single tamsulosin. Each group were forty people who agreed to participate in the experiment.IPSS,QOL,Q-max as well as RV were measured.Patients who did not undergo this procedure were excluded.ResultsAfter the treatment,IPSS,Q-max and bladder residual urine were better improved in both groups. While there were unsignificant differences between the two groups in improvemet of IPSS,increase of urine flowing rate and reduction of residual urine in bladder(all P>0.05).The effective rate was significant differences between the two groups, where was 92.5%in the Acupuncture of "ba liao" with routine drug group and 75%in the routine drug group(P<0.05).ConclusionBoth treatment were improved the IPSS,Q-max and bladder residual urine, while the acupuncture of "ba liao" with routine drug therapy had better effects on dysuria than routine drug group.Acupuncture therapy was a safety and easy treatment.
