Effect Of Acupuncture With Regulating Mind And Strengthening Spleen On Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Adrenal Axis In Patients With Diarrhea-predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Objective:To study the effect of acupuncture with Regulating Mind And Strengthening Spleen on HPA axis in patients with D-IBS,then explore the potential mechanism of D-IBS treatment by acupuncture with Regulating Mind And Strengthening Spleen.Methods:In this study,34 patients with D-IBS were randomly divided into experimental group(n=22)and control group(n=12).The patients in the experimental group were treated with Acupuncture with Regulating Mind And Strengthening Spleen and treated three times a week for 6 weeks.While in the control group,patients will be given Pinaverium Bromide Tablets(Dicetel,Abbott Pharmaceutical Co.,Ltd.,50mg)once a time,3 times a day for 6 weeks.The changes of body and mental state were evaluated before and after treatment in patients with irritable bowel syndrome severity scale,Hamilton rating scale for depression.The levels of serum CRF,ACTH,CORT and fecal SIgA were measured by ELISA.Results:1.The total effective rate of acupuncture was 90.91%,which was significantly higher than that of the drug(75.00%),with statistical significance in differece(P<0.05).2.The scores of Hamilton rating scale for depression in the experimental group were significantly lower than those before treatment,with statistical significance in differece(P<0.05),while the difference was not statistically significant in the control group(P>0.05).3.The levels of serum CRF,ACTH and CORT in the experimental group were significantly different from those before treatment(P<0.05),yet no significant difference was found in the control group(P>0.05).4.The levels of SIgA in the intestinal contents of the two groups were statistically significant before and after treatment(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:Acupuncture can significantly relieve the clinical symptoms of patients with D-IBS,and improve their mental state.It may be the possible mechanism of the treatment of D-IBS that through the regulation of HPA ais,Acupuncture with Regulating Mind And Strengthening Spleen downregulates the serum CRF,ACTH,CORT,and promotes SIgA secretion,thereby improving the patient's intestinal function and playing a clinical effect.
