Cross-sectional Study Of Acupuncture And Moxibustion Therapy In Patients With Diabetes Mellitus And Frozen Shoulder In Jiangdong District Of Ningbo

Objective A questionnaire survey was conducted among frozen shoulder patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in community residents of Jiangdong District,Ningbo City.The characteristics of this disease and acupuncture treatment of this shoulder pain were investigated.The clinical status and therapeutic effect of acupuncture and moxibustion therapy of type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with frozen shoulder were analyzed.In order to improve the clinical efficacy of acupuncture and broaden the indications of acupuncture to provide an objective basis,this research has been conducted.Methods Using the method of census,a total of 1971 patients in 6 communities with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with frozen shoulder in Jiangdong District of Ningbo City were studied?All the subjects were investigated by questionnaire,which including the general condition,physical examination,FBG(fasting blood glucose),HBA1c(glycosylated hemoglobin),TC(total cholesterol),TG(triglyceride),prevalence and frozen shoulder treatment.The acupuncture and moxibustion therapy rate of patients with type 2 diabetes complicated with frozen shoulder was calculated,and the distribution and curative effect of different acupuncture and moxibustion therapy on such shoulder pain were described.Finally Spearman Rank Correlation was used to explore the association between the duration of diabetes?blood glucose level and the efficacy of acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment of such shoulder Pain.Results(1)22 In this study,a total of 13,996 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were surveyed in Jiangdong District of Ningbo City,among which there were 1971 patients with frozen shoulder.The prevalence of type 2 diabetes complicated with frozen shoulder in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus was 14.1%.The males(52.6%)were more than females(47.4%).The persons in 45-54 age group were the largest number.(2)It has been found that frozen shoulder can occur at any time in type 2 diabetes mellitus.The frozen shoulder patients who had less than 5 years or more than 20 years of diabete were few,accounting for 18.8%and 4.4%.The meam±SD of FBG(fasting blood glucose)was 6.41±1.32mmol/L.The meam±SD of HBAlc(glycosylated hemoglobin)was 6.56±1.08%.The meam±SD of TC(total cholesterol)was 5.24±0.71mmol/L.The meam±SD of TG(triglyceride)was 2.0±1.52mmol/L.All of them were higher than the normal level.(3)The treatment of 1971 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with frozen shoulder in recent 3 months was researched.Acupuncture and moxibustion therapy of type 2 diabetes with frozen shoulder was the most.(4)The treatment of moxa needle and moxibustion was most common.(5)The effective rate of acupuncture and moxibustion therapy for type 2 diabetic patients with frozen shoulder was 83.3%.The effective percentage was different among different acupuncture and moxibustion therapy:the filiform needle was 77.2%,the moxibustion was 84.5%,the moxa needle was 87.1%,the electroacupuncture was 82.1%,the fire needle was 66.7%,the point injection was 78.8%,the needle knife was 67.2%.(6)Diabetes course with 6 to 10 years of frozen shoulder with acupuncture treatment had the highest efficiency(88.4%).There was a negative correlation between the duration of diabetes and the acupuncture treatment effect of this frozen shoulder(R2=0.028,P=0.00).That is the shorter the duration of diabetes,the better the efficacy of acupuncture treatment.(7)The effective rate of acupuncture and moxibustion treatment in normal group was 95.7%higher than that in higher glycosylated hemoglobin group(76.4%).The glycosylated and the acupuncture treatment effect showed a negative correlation(R2=0,028,P=0.00).That is,the lower the glycosylated hemoglobin,acupuncture treatment better.Conclusion Type 2 diabetes mellitus patients accompanied with frozen shoulder most often diagnosed in men.There was a negative correlation between the duration of diabetes,the level of blood glucose and the acupuncture treatment effect of this frozen shoulder.We should actively control diabetes while treating frozen shoulder with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
