Schizophrenia is a common neurological disease, which has complex symptoms in clinic.Patients have many obstacles, such as thinking, perception, behavior, and so on.It may lead to the disharmony between mental activity and environment.Although there are a large number of brain function and structure of the research at home and abroad about schizophrenic patients, its etiology and pathogenesis has not yet been elucidated. The results are mostly concentrated on the abnormal brain regions or abnormal brain functional network. In this paper,we explore the coordination disorder in two hemispheres of schizophrenia to analyze the mechanism of schizophrenia, which is helpful to develop new treatment methods and provide guidance for clinical practice.Previous studies had shown that there was abnormal brain regional homogeneity(Reho)in schizophrenic patients. On this basis,we analyzed the effects of the regional homogeneity abnormalities in schizophrenia on the processing and coordination of the two hemispheres of the brain. In this study,we collected the data of brain functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI)of 69 schizophrenic patients and 62 normal controls who had no significant difference in age and gender. The results showed that the abnormal regions were located in frontal lobe, temporal lobe, occipital lobe, parahippocampal gyrus and thalamus.Interestingly,we found that abnormal brain regions mainly located in the symmetrical region, including the posterior central gyrus, parahippocampal gyrus, supplementary motor area and thalamus. There was a significantly negative correlation between bilateral posterior central gyrus Reho values and the illness duration of disease in patients. At the same time, the left parahippocampal gyrus and left heschl gyrus Reho values were positive correlated with the scores of PANSS(Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale)positive symptoms. It is possible that the abnormal regional homogeneity regions, especially the abnormal in symmetrical brain regions, may be the pathogenesis of schizophrenia.Using Voxel-mirrored Homotopic Connectivity(VMHC)method to compare the differences in patients and normal individuals,we directly explored mirrored voxels functional connection in two hemispheres.Patients had significant abnormal symmetric regions, including the precuneus, superior occipital gyrus, thalamus and rolandic operculum. The VMHC values in the thalamus and rolandic operculum were negative correlated with the illness duration of disease.Besides, the illness duration of disease and PANSS negative symptom scores were significantly positive correlated with the precuneus VMHC values. In this study,we investigated the mechanism of the two brain hemispheres by analyzing the mirrored voxels functional connection in schizophrenia. The results showed that there were many abnormal symmetrical regions in the two hemispheres of schizophrenia. In this paper,we used two kinds of brain imaging data analysis methods to explore the mechanism of two hemispheres coordination disorder in schizophrenia.Based on two studies, the results of the abnormal function of the brain in the two hemispheres were obtained. Therefore,in clinic,we can adjust the balance of the patients' activities in the two hemispheres of the brain to prevent and treat the schizophrenia.
