Objective: Through the clinical observation on the treatment of adhesive chronic lumbar muscle strain by integrating Tuina and Ashi cutting-bloodletting acupuncture,to objectively evaluate the efficacy of this method on the treatment of adhesive chronic lumbar muscle strain, and to explore it's mechanism of action.Method: In this study,60 patients are randomly divided into treatment group and control group, with 30 patients in each group. The treatment group is applied the method by integrating Tuina and Ashi cutting-bloodletting acupuncture, and the control group is treated simply by Tuina. The clinical efficacy of the patients in pre-treatment and post-treatment periods would be observed, and the patients would be received follow-up visit on the third month and sixth month accordingly after the treatment. The researcher compares and analyzes the results and related data from follow-up visits.Result: After the first course of treatment, both treatment group and control group gain good efficacy for adhesive chronic lumbar muscle strain at an equivalent level(P>0.05).After the second course of treatment, the results and efficiency of treatment group(86.6% curative rate,96.6% effective rate)are better than the control group(66.7% curative rate,86.7% effective rate)(P<0.01).While on the third month follow-up visit, the treatment group's improvement of patients' condition has increased compared to the end of the treatment;however, the control group's improvement of patients' condition has decreased. On the sixth month follow-up visit, the treatment group's improvement of patients' condition keeps the same level as it was at the third month(P>0.05);and the control group's improvement of patients' condition has decreased compared to that on the third month. The efficacy and recurrence rate of treatment group(60.0% curative rate,93.3% effective rate,3.33% recurrence rate)are significantly better than the control group(6.67% curative rate,53.3% effective rate,33.3% recurrence rate)(P<0.01).Conclusion: The study verifies that applying Tuina and Ashi cutting-bloodletting acupuncture on the clinical treatment of adhesive chronic lumbar muscle strain is able to maintain good efficacy in both short term and long term.It is a straightforward,practical,fast-onset,and steady treatment method for the study disease. This treatment is worth spreading widely on clinical use.
