Effect Of Seed-embedding At Otopoints Combined With Deanxit In The Treatment Of Tumor Depression

BackgroundWith the rapid development of China's modernization process,the incidence of cancer in the country has been increasing year by year.Cancer has become China's most common disease and one of the important causes of death.Studies have shown that patients suffering from malignant tumors are more likely to suffer from depression than those with simple malignancies when suffering from the same pain.At the same time,when this type of patients use anti-cancer drugs,the incidence of adverse reactions will be significantly increased,and adverse reactions are relatively heavy.Moreover,the levels of CD8+,IL-2 and TNF were significantly lower than other patients.The immune function is suppressed and the risk of cancer cells spreading with blood will increase.The quality of life and survival of patients will have a significant decline.In clinical practice,the phenomenon that depression and malignant tumors were found in the same patient is not uncommon.At present,the results of epidemiological survey shows that in average 30%-60%of patients with cancer will be associated with depression,which can lead to the survival rate decrease about 20%.Depression and tumor can influence each other.On the one hand,depression can influence release of neurotransmitter,thus impact the function of human brain and cause various viscera function disorder.Many toxic and harmful substances in body fluid cannot be discharged,resulting in the increase of exacerbations malignant tumors.On the other hand,due to their greater mental and economic pressure,patients with malignant tumors will have higher incidence of depression.This interaction of the two kinds of make the patient suffered from the enormous physical and psychological pains.As a clinical physician,we should pay attention to not only the patient's visceral function caused by malignant tumor,but also the change of the patient's mental state.At present,China's explores for tumor therapy have been in progress,but we did not pay enough attention to some emotional changes including depression.Many domestic and foreign research data indicate that there is a close relationship between malignant tumor and depression in many systems of the human body,which will promote each other and aggravate the vicious circle.But at the same time,we are not very clear about how it is specific.The theory of neuro-endocrine-immune regulatory network is generally accepted that and also a hot spot at moment.In the treatment of tumor associated depression,western medicine such as tricyclic drug,and compound preparation of traditional Chinese medicine is widely used.The effect and the improved quality of life has gradually been recognized,but the currently there is still a lack of randomized,double-blind research.The reason for this phenomenon is that the sample size is limited,the observation time is limited,and there is a lack of deep understanding of the mechanism of drug treatment,especially for antidepressants and anti-cancer drugs.Therefore,treating such patients with the traditional Chinese medicine,especially non drug treatment of such patients cannot is very important.Studies have shown that traditional Chinese medicine treatment combined with auricular acupuncture can improve insomnia among the elderly,and can greatly improve the emotional status of patients with depression and sleep quality.Therefore,the application of seed-embedding at otopoints in the tumor patients with depression and insomnia has a good starting point in clinical research.If we can give full play to the characteristics of seed-embedding at otopoints,we can improve the quality of life with reduced damage of liver and kidney function.PurposesTo study the therapeutic effect of seed-embedding at otopoints among tumor patients complicated with depression and insomnia,and to provide the basis for clinical treatment.MethodsOne hundred patients were chosen in the outpatient and inpatient departments of The Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Tianjin Wuqing from March 2016 to January 2017.Firstly,patients were numbered as 1-100 according to their order of visit.They were then randomly divided into two groups by random number table method:experimental group and control group.The experimental group received seed-embedding at otopoints combined with Deanxit i,and the control group was treated by Deanxit only.The data were recorded and analyzed.Both groups were treated for 6 weeks.Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD),Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),Karnofsky Performance Score(KPS)were tested before and after treatment in the first,2nd,4th,6th weeks,as well as 2 weeks after the follow-up period.After data processing,SPSS 11.5 was used to analyze the differences between the two groups.The effect for numeric variables between two groups was compared using linear regression by controlling for possible confounding factors.Logistic regression analysis was used to compare categorical effects by controlling for possible confounding factors.FindingsAmong all 100 patients,95 were included in the analysis,including 48 cases in the experimental group,and 47 in the control group.Before the study,we did the balance test to compare the general characteristics between the two group.The results showed that the treatment group and the control group had significant difference in age(P=0.049),the rest were not statistically significant(P>0.05).The results showed that the two groups were significant different after treatment in the sleep quality score and life quality score aspects(P<0.05),indicating that seed-embedding at otopoints combined with Deanxit in the treatment of cancer patients with depression and insomnia has good curative effect.In terms of efficiency,the treatment group was better in HAMD clinical control rate and total efficiency,insomnia and the total effective rate,quality of life score than the control group.The score of the treatment group was significantly improved in the heart rate and blood pressure,and the degree of improvement was statistically significant(P<0.05).ConclusionSeed-embedding at otopoints combined with Deanxit in the treatment of depression and insomnia in cancer patients is safe and effective.The mechanism may be that seed-embedding can adjust the balance of the body and relieve the depression by adjusting the balance of the blood pressure and reducing the heart rate.
