The Retrospective Study Of Deltoid Ligament Injuries Whether To Repair Or Not

ObjectiveControversy exists concerning the need for operative repair of the deltoid ligament during management of ankle fractures.So far,No one has proposed relevant hard evidence of evidence-based medicine.The purpose of our study was to identify the effectiveness for surgical intervention for deltoid ligament injury in ankle fractures by retrospective follow-up study.Futher,To analyse deltoid ligament injuries treated with surgical repair whether is necessary.What's more,Wipe outside of traditional Chinese medicine in treatment of chronic pain that is caused by deltoid ligament injury whether is clinically meaningful.MethodsBy retrospective design,involved 2 clinical institutions(The third affi-liated hospital of Guangzhou Chinese medicine University,Orthopedic Hospital of Guangzhou).from fubraur 2013 to fubraur 2015,according to inclusion and exclusion criteria,there were 62 ankle fractures with deltoid ligament injury which is divided into 2 groups(Repair group 32 cases and non-repair group 30 cases).Of the 62 patients which were followed up more than 2 years.The outcome measures included the clinical examination findings,radiographic findings,American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society ankle-hindfoot scores,Visual analog scale(VAS)scores,complications,medial malleolus sprain freq-uency,and Medical Outcomes Study Short Form 36-item questionnaire scores.ResultsVAS pain score comparison:independent samples t-test analysis,There was statistically significant difference between them(P<0.05).Compared with the non-repair group,Surgical repair of the deltoid ligament can better reduce the pain.Medial malleolus clearance comparison:independent samples t-test analy-sis,There was no significant difference between them(P>0.05).Contrasted To the non-repair group,the outcome measures had no improved significantly.The dates indicate that surgical repair of the deltoid ligament does not have clinical significance in medial malleolus clearance.Medical Outcomes Study Short Form 36-item questionnaire score comparison:Independent samples t-test analysis,There was no significant differeence be-tween them(P>0.05).American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society ankle-hindfoot score compar-ison:independent samples t-test analysis,There was significant difference between them(P<0.05).compared with non-repair group,Surgical repair of the deltoid ligament can recover better ankle function and improve the quality of life.Complicationgs comparison:Chi-square test,There was significant differ-rence between them(P<0.05).compared with non-repair group,Surgical repair Of the deltoid ligament had letter the instability of the ankle,traumatic a-rthritis,and chronic pain.Analysising chinese herb rub on 12 patients with chronic ankle pain by paired sample t-test,found that wipe outside of traditional Chinese medicine to ease chronic pain of old left triangular ligament injury had no significant effect in short-term treatment(P>0.05).Medial malleolus sprain frequency comparison:independent samples t-test analysis,There was significant difference between them(P<0.05).Surgical repair of the deltoid ligament better able to restore the stability of medial malleolus.ConclusionSurgical repair of the deltoid ligament,in VAS pain score,Medial malleolus sprain frequency,complications and Ankle Society ankle-hindfoot score,had singnificant advantages,All the 4 outcome measures had improved significantly postoperatively(P<0.05).Repairing the deltoid ligment demonstrates subjective,functional,and radiologic outcomes that were comparable with non-repair group,which had a clear advantage.Wipe outside of traditional Chinese medicine for chronic pain in the short term had no significant effect.Compared with surgical intervention,there was no significant advantages about Medical Outcomes Study Short Form 36-item questionnaire score.There were a lot of factors to consider,such as chronic disease,the external environment and mental state.
