Objective: This paper uses different applications of small needle-shaped knife to treat the patients with lumbar disc herniation, and observes the improvement of the pain and functions of lower limb in two groups of patients before and after treatment,to provide a new treatment methods and ideas for needle-Shaped Knife treatment of lumbar disc herniation.Methods:(1)The source of the cases: the cases were from the outpatient and hospitalization patients with low back pain, numbness in the hospital,2016 Jan-2017 Jan.(2)Research object: select the patients who were unilateral lumbar intervertebral 4/5 disc herniation, according to the “TCM syndrome diagnostic efficacy standards” [1] released from the State Administration of Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)in 1994,and Yougu Hu's intervertebral disc herniation 3st edition published by People's Medical Publishing House[2].Plus CT and MRI images, all subjects are diagnosed as unilateral L4/5 intervertebral disc herniation.(3)Grouping method: using statistical random number table method to divide 63 cases, which met the judgement standard of unilateral L4/5 intervertebral disc herniation, into treatment group(n=31)and control group(n=32).(4)Intervention methods:treatment group was treated by Professor Xuelong Zhou's own experience that summed up the “two zone and one point”(the Outburst Zone, trigger zone, behavior points)treatment; The control group utilized Professor ChangqingGuo's recommendation[3] to treat other 32 cases of intervertebral disc herniation. All were treated once every five days, three times were one course of treatment, totally lasting for 15 days. The VAS and JOA scores, comprehensive results were compare before and after one course of treatment. All data was analyzed by statistics software SPSS 17.0.Results: 60 cases were done in this research,30 cases in treatment group and 30 cases in control group.Among them, one discontinued in treatment group and two in control group. Before treatment, the patients' gender, age and course of disease made no difference between the two groups(P>0.05),indicating the two groups can be compared in the aspects above.Through comparing the degrees of improvement of two groups(VAS scores),they showed obvious diversity,P<0.01,and the pain symptoms were improved, indicating two types of treatment are effective. Two groups' VAS scores were evaluated by T after treatment,P>0.05,showing no statistical significance. Two groups' JOA scores increased largely after treatment,P<0.01,so two types of treatments were effective to improve the symptoms, signs and functions of intervertebral disc herniation. The JOA scores after treatment have no statistical significance(P>0.05),indicating two types treatment have no difference in improving the functions of lumbar. The comparison of curative effects of two groups of cases: treatment group: 9 cases recovery(30.00%),16 cases markedly effective(53.33%),3 cases effective(10.00%),2 cases invalid(6.66%),totally effective rate was 93.33%;Control group: 7cases recovery(23.33%),18 cases markedly effective(60%),2 cases effective(6.66%),3 cases invalid(10%),totally effective rate was 90%.P>0.05 indicates two types treatment methods for unilateral L4/5 intervertebral disc herniation have fairly effects. Conclusion: Needle-Shaped Knife therapy for unilateral L4/5intervertebral disc herniation are largely effective. Two types of treatment in improving pain symptoms, function of lumbar and comprehensive effects are fairly. The needle-Shaped Knife as a new therapy is markedly effective, convenient and safe for treating intervertebral disc herniation. It is worth spreading in clinical application.
