Study On Effect Of Using WeChat Platform To Assist Health Education For Patients With PICC-line

Objectives:1.To explore the effects of using WeChat platform to assist health education for patients with PICC-line,including daily management KAP and Patients PICC Self-management as well as the early complications and unplanned extubation,so as toprovide a reference for nurses making health education strategies.2.To explore patients,experience about using WeChat platform to assist health education by using qualitative methods.Methods:1.129 patients with picc-line were randomly divided into an intervention group(65 cases)and a control group(64 cases).Control group was given routines oral education and deliver picc handbook,while the intervention group use WeChat platform to assist health education.All patients were followed up in a month.The outcomes were evaluated before and after the intervention and were analysed by using SPSS 17.0 software package.2.A semi-structured interview was conducted with 15 patients with picc-line who adopted WeChat platform to assist health education.Data were analyzed based on Colaizzi’s phenomenological research method.Results:The study colected 130 cases of patients with picc-line,one patients died during the study and finally investigated 129 cases of the objects of this study.1.Before the intervention,the scores of level of daily management KAP in both two groups were very low,which was 49.77±6.29 and 50.00±5.33 respectively.2.After the intervention,The scores of level of daily management KAP and Patients PICC Self-management as well as each subscales improved greatly and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Paired t-test showed that significant difference were found in the comparison of the scores of daily management KAP in both two groups before and after intervention(P<0.05).3.There were 25(19.38%)complications among 129 patients,6(9.2%)complica-tions in intervention group and 19(29.7%)in control group.The incidence of catheter extubation and unplanned extubation in intervention group were significantly lower than those in control group(P<0.05).4.Four themes were classified including the advantages of using WeChat platform to assist health education,disadvantages of using WeChat platform to assist health education,acceptability of using WeChat platform to assist health educationand the suggestions of using WeChat platform to assist health education.Conclusions:1.Using WeChat platform to assist health education for patients with PICC-line can significantly improve Patients’ level of PICC Self-management capacity,direct patients to implement effective behavior,cope with abnormal condition positively and prolong the life of catheter.2.Using WeChat platform to assist health education for patients with PICC-line can improve the level of daily management KAP,especially the subcales of attitude and behavior,which can help patients to establish a positive beliefs and attitudes and form healthy behavior.3.Using WeChat platform to assist health education for patients with PICC-line can significantly decline catheter related complications and unplanned catheter extubation.4.Patients were satisfied with this kind of health education,ane this kind of education is simple and praticable and had obvious advantages,it has feasibility and effectiveness in patients with picc-line.
