Objective:1.To explore the current status and existing problems of health education evaluation for patients with PICC in Jinan.2.To develop a scientific and feasible indicators system for health education evaluation for patients with PICC.Methods:1.Key informant interviews were conducted on 15 PICC nursing administrators and PICC professional nurses in 3 tertiary hospitals in Jinan using phenomenological method. Data were analyzed by Colaizzi’s phenomenological procedure.2.Based on the theory of knowledge, attitude and practice and health belief model, the indicators for health education evaluation of patients with PICC was preliminarily formulated by using literature review.Delphi technique was used in organizing two-rounds expert consultation among 25 expert, precedence chart and expert evaluation was adopted to calculate the weight of each index, and then the indicators system for health education evaluation of patients with PICC was developed.Results:1.Four themes were classified including the need for health education evaluation for patients with PICC, lacking of competence and awareness of health education evaluation in nurses, the shortcomings of health education evaluation and the advices of health education evaluation among patients with PICC.2.The recovery rates of two rounds’ questionnaires were 100% and 96% respectively. The rate of expert advice was 64% and 54.17%,respectively.The experts’ authority coefficient, determination coefficient and familiarity coefficient was 0.88,0.90,and 0.86,respectively.The coordination coefficient of first-level and second-level indicators was 0.413 and 0.324,respectively.The indicators system for health education evaluation of patients with PICC including 4 first-level indicators,39 second-level indicators. The weight coefficient of health knowledge, health belief, health behavior and satisfaction degree of health education was 0.278,0.253,0.309 and 0.160, respectively.Conclusion:1.The current health education evaluation of patients with PICC can’t really reflect the effect of health education. It is necessary to emphasize that developing the nurses’ competence and awareness, evaluating the effect of health education by nurses and patients, combining recent evaluation with long-term evaluation and developing a scale for health education evaluation of patients with PICC.2.The indicators system for health education evaluation of patients with PICC is scientific and reliable, which can provide a basis for clinical nurses to implement and assess the effect of health education for patients with PICC.
