Objective. The research is to explore the relationship between Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) syndrome distribution regularities and endocrinological indexes in patients who suffer from the polycystic ovary syndrome with insulin resistance (PCOS-IR), which aims to provide some objective basis for clinical evidence-based medicine.Methods. (1)A questionnaire was conducted on patients diagnosed with PCOS-IR to collect the information of four diagnostic methods of TCM and relevant medical records. (2)Established a database, did cluster analysis and frequency analysis for the information of four diagnostic methods of TCM, and then obtained the regularities of distribution of the TCM syndrome. (3) Variance analysis and non-parametric test were performed to analyse the differences in the endocrine indexes (BMI?PRL?FSH?LH? LH/FSH?E2?FT?DHEAS?INSO?INS1h?INS2h, INS3h) among the various TCM syndrome types of PCOS-IR, which is used to explore the correlation between the regularities of distribution of TCM syndrome and endocrinological indexes.Results. (1)Distribution regularities of TCM syndromes:kidney deficiency with liver depression syndrome occupied 31 cases, accounting for 18.6%; spleen deficiency with wet aggregates syndrome occupied 34 cases, accounting for 21.1%; kidney deficiency with blood stasis syndrome occupied 31 cases, accounting for 19.3%; phlegm and blood stasis syndrome occupied 41 cases, accounting for 25.5%; qi and blood stasis syndrome occupied 25 cases, accounting for 15.5%. Among which phlegm and blood stasis syndrome was the main symptom. (2)Among the syndrome groups of PCOS-IR, a statistical difference was found in BMI between the Phlegm and blood stasis syndrome group and the other groups (P< 0.05). Meanwhile, the BMI in Phlegm and blood stasis syndrome group was higher than the other groups. However, comparison between the other syndrome groups, there was no difference in BMI (P> 0.05). (3)Basal hormone levels (PRL?FSH?LH?LH/FSH?E2?FT?DHEAS) in every TCM syndrome group of PCOS-IR were no difference (P>0.05).(4)There are significant differences in INSO, INSlh by comparing Phlegm and blood stasis syndrome group with other TCM syndrome groups (P< 0.05) and the value of INS0, INS1h in phlegm and blood stasis syndrome group is higher than other TCM syndrome groups. And difference is found in INS2h between Phlegm and blood stasis syndrome group, spleen deficiency and wet aggregates syndrome group, and the other groups (P<0.05), while no difference in Phlegm and blood stasis syndrome group, and spleen deficiency and wet aggregates syndrome group, with INS2h higher than other groups. Differences are also found in INS3h between the spleen deficiency with wet aggregates syndrome group and the other groups (P< 0.05), while compared with kidney deficiency with liver depression syndrome group, no difference is found (P> 0.05), with both value of INS3h lower than other groups.Conclusions. (1)Distribution regularities of TCM syndromes:kidney deficiency with liver depression syndrome, spleen deficiency with wet aggregates syndrome, kidney deficiency with blood stasis syndrome, phlegm and blood stasis syndrome, qi and blood stasis syndrome occupied 25 cases, accounting for 15.5%. Among which phlegm and blood stasis syndrome was the main symptom. (2)The syndrome of phlegm and blood stasis may closely related to the occurrence of obesity. (3)The syndrome of phlegm and blood stasis may be closely associated with the occurrence of IR. (4)The patients of PCOS-IR with syndrome of phlegm and blood stasis suffer the most severe situations, spleen deficiency with wet aggregates syndrome the second, while other syndromes are in a comparatively mild situation. (5)The method of removing phlegm and dispelling stasis may be an important treatment of the PCOS-IR.
