Objective:Through clinical randomized controlled trial, to compare effectiveness of fire needle combined with penetrating needling with conventional acupuncture for knee osteoarthritis patients. To explore a better therapy for knee osteoarthritis. Methods:A randomized controlled clinical trial was performed. A total of 60 knee osteoarthritis patients, who divided into therapy group and control group,30 cases in each one. Therapy group used a comprehensive treatment of fire needle combined with penetrating needling, control group was applied in the acupuncture group. First day,60 knee osteoarthritis patients' gender, age, course of disease were recorded. The changes of visual analog scale(VAS),Western Ontario and McMaster University Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC),TCM Syndrome were observed at the first day and after treatment.Results:1. Baseline comparison:Compared two groups' age, gender, duration of disease, VAS score, WOMAC score, TCM syndrome score of two groups before treatment (P >0.05), there were no significant difference, suggest that there was comparability between groups.2. General efficacy:there were significant difference of the comparison of total clinical efficacy between the two groups(P<0.05); Through further analysis, the total effective rate of the experimental group was 89.65%, control group was 75.86%,which suggest that the recovery efficiency of experimental group is higher than control group.3. Efficacy of sub index:the VAS scores of two groups by within group comparison before and after treatment, comparison were statistically significant(P< 0.01);compared the difference value between two groups, there were significant difference(P<0.05). The WOMAC scores of two groups by within group comparison before and after treatment, the scores after treatment were significantly higher than before treatment, comparison were statistically significant(P<0.01);there were statistically significant of the WOMAC difference value between two groups (P< 0.05). TCM syndrome scores of two groups by within group comparison before and after treatment, comparison were statistically significant(P<0.01);compared the difference value between two groups, there were significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion:(1)The methods of fire needle combined with penetrating needling is significant for knee osteoarthritis. Two methods can improve the clinical syndromes and signs, can effectively relieve pain and movement limitation of knee.(2)The methods of fire needle combined with penetrating needling considered as a better therapy for knee osteoarthritis, which is superior to the conventional acupuncture.(3) The methods of fire needle combined with penetrating needling is simple application, security.
