Objective:Objective structured clinical examination(OSCE)is a new type of clinical examination mode.It can objectively evaluate the clinical ability of medical students, and also has its high reliability. At present, many domestic and foreign medical education institutions are using OSCE as an important evaluation tool to assess the clinical ability of medical students. This research is based on the measurements of the clinical practice ability in 90 clinical undergraduate interns of 2011 grade in First Affiliated Hospital of Hebei North University during 2015-2016.The research is aimed to evaluate students' knowledge, skills and attitudes comprehensively.According to the examination results, quantitative and qualitative analysis and statistic analysis of outcome,we confirmed feasibility and superiority of OSCE in the evaluation of the clinical abilities of medical undergraduates. It can also improve the clinical ability of medical students, promote the practice learning of the clinical medicine to the scientific, normalization, standardization, and provide advice and guidance to improve the level of clinical teaching. Methods:According to the practice of teaching syllabus and experts' consultations, formulate clinical medical undergraduates OSCE assessment sites.Use randomized controlled experiments,to evaluate the effectiveness of the teaching method. The 90 internships clinical medicine in First Affiliated Hospital of Hebei North University were divided into experimental group and control group by randomized method. Each group has 45 people. In the experimental group the teaching method based on OSCE was used for clinical medical students' clinical skills training. The control group used the traditional teaching method. And then two groups conducted a questionnaire survey and discussion to teachers and students who participated in OSCE teaching and evaluation. Finally,we reviewed the clinical ability of two groups before and after training.Using SPSS18.0 statistical software, the final examination scores and questionnaire results were statistically analyzed. Results:We formulate the OSCE examination sites for clinical medical undergraduates and do statistical analysis of the data.During the first round of expert consultation, the total recognition rate is 83.65%,which shows that the agreements' consistency of the experts is not very high, and they don't reach agreement above some issues. In the second round of expert consultation, the approval rating is 90.43%,which shows that those experts reach unanimity, and the clinical skills assessment sites are basically defined. Before the formal training,we examined 90 interns' clinical competence. After statistically analyzing the data, the results show that the p value was greater than 0.05(P > 0.05)which indicates that the experimental group and control group have no significant difference in clinical ability. After a period of training,we examined the same 90 students' clinical competence in OSCE assessment. After data were statistically analyzed, the results showed that the P values were less than 0.05(P < 0.05).In the experimental group and the control group, the clinical ability has significant differences, which indicates that this teaching method can greatly improve the clinical ability of medical students. Conclusion: By taking the OSCE examination method that 90 students were training before and after the assessment,in order to assess the results of the training effect evaluation combined with questionnaires and interview results,OSCE,the new examination mode has been recognized by the students and the teachers. The examination results can be used as the basis for evaluation of clinical ability of medical students. It shows that the teaching method based on OSCE can greatly improve the clinical ability of medical students so that it can be further promoted and applied.
