Investigation On The Status Of Ship Potable Water At Huangpu Port

During the voyage,ship potable water is the lifeblood of crews,travelers and even animals.As the required of shipping,ship potable water does not have settled supplementary water source and supply mode,it has poor water storage condition.There are risks of public health event so that the World Health Organization(WHO) had made definite requirement about ship potable water safety on the International Health Regulations(2005).As incidence rates of water-borne diseases rised rapidly over the years, WHO and harbor authorities from all over the world had paid more attention to the sanitary condition of ship potable water.In order to keep abreast of the sanitary condition of ship potable water at Huangpu port,from January 2014 to August 2015,this survey had collected 256 sanitary reports and water samples from international navigation ships for physicochemical tests and microbiological tests. All tests were referenced and adopted to GB/T 5750-2006 Drinking Water Sanitation Standardized Testing Method.Test results show that the pass percent of water quality at Huangpu port is only 61.33%,while the unqualified rate of microbiological indicators is 30.08% and the unqualified rate of metal indicators is 9.76%. The sanitary condition of ship potable water in Huangpu port instil little optimism.On this basis, in this paper,it further analyzes the interrelationships between the sanitary condition of ship potable water and doubtful influencing factors such as vessel type vessel ages,vessel tonnage,vessel nationality and vessel management company.The analysis found that the pass percent of water quality was statistically significant difference in ship type(P<0.05).Among the samples, the unqualified rate of tug,passenger, supply ship and vehicles carrier reached over 50%.The pass percent of water quality was also statistically significant difference in vessel nationality. Among the samples, the unqualified rate of vessel nationality belong to the advanced economies in Asia, the developed economies in America,Aisa and Oceania reached over 30%.This survey is the first comprehensive inspection of the sanitary condition of ship potable water at Huangpu port.It shall provide data support and put forward constructive and feasible suggestions to help harbor authorities ensure public health security.
