Objective To investigate and analyze the clinical characteristics and related factors of children with nocturnal enuresis, in order to further explore the pathogenesis, treatment, strengthen the understanding of enuresis, finally to improve the quality of life of children with nocturnal enuresis. Methods Collectting 78 cases of Ningxia Medical University General Hospital pediatric out-patient department from January 2015 to January 2016, and the clinical datas, including questionnaires, auxiliary examination and observation of the treatment effect. The contents of the questionnaire included name, sex, age, the time of bed-wetting, bed-wetting times, complications(including constipation and psychological behavior problem), eating habits, family history. Relevant auxiliary examination included urinalysis, ultrasound of urinary tract, X-ray of L-Spine PA, and then gave corresponding treatment, and followed the results. Results Among the 78 cases of children with nocturnal enuresis, the distribution of gender and age was different, 45 cases of male(57.69%), 33 cases of female(42.31%), and the ratio of male to female was 1.36:1. The minimum age of nocturia children was 5 years old, and maximum was 14 years old. There was 61 cases between 5 and 10 years old, and 17 cases between 11-14 years old. 18 cases(23.07%) wetted the bed 2~3 nights per week. The severity of urinary incontinence was different between 5-10 years old and 11-14 years old. The number of 11-14 years old(9/17,52.94%) was more than 5-10 years old(9/61,14.75%), P<0.05. The difference was statistically significant. 24 cases(30.77%) slept deeply. Bed-wetting time focused on 1am-2am, and the number was 30(38.46%). 25 cases(32.05%)had under daytime urinary tract symptoms(including leak urine, urinary frequency, urgency, micturition delay performance). The number of merge constipation was 10 cases(12.82%). Nocturia had a greater influence on the psychological behavior of children, characterized by inattention, short-time attention, hyperactivity, emotional excitement, anger, narrow interests, introverted shy and so on, which affected male children more greater(P<0.05). 13 cases(26%) had recessive spina bifida. 30 cases with family enuresis history(38.46%). Most children usually liked to drink carbonated beverages, ate more fruits before going to bed. With the behavior guidance, reducing beverage intake enuresis could reduce the times of bed-wetting. 26 cases were given treatment of bladder function training and behavior guidance, and 49 cases were given oral Chinese medicine + bladder function training and behaviorv guidance. The healing of the former was 18 cases(69.23%), and the latter was 36 cases(73.46%).Conclusions The distribution of nocturnal enuresis between gender and age is different, more common in boys, and 5-10 years old are the majority. Along with the age growth, enuresis disease rate declines, but the severity rises. Enuresis pathogenesis is complex, including sleep arousal disorders, night antidiuretic hormone secretion insufficiency, bladder dysfunction, spina bifida occulta, genetic factors. These bring children with severe psychological impacts, the effects on boys are more than girls. The bad habit of drinking water, eating more fruits before going to bed can aggravate nocturnal enuresis. Because enuresis is caused by multiple factors, comprehensive, individualized treatment plans are advised.
