The Intervention Evaluation And Cost Benefit Analysis Of The Assertive Community Treatment For Schizophrenia Patients

Objective: The study intends to evaluate the intervention effect for the Schizophrenia Patients in community caused by the Assertive Community Treatment and analyze its cost benefit in the perspective of Health Economics. And then offer reference for the Assertive Community Treatment model's application and popularization in our country.Methods: Choose for patients who meet the eligibility criteria, and even take the initiative to Assertive Community Treatment(ACT) project, with a number of 28 cases in the research group. Then choose another 30 patients with schizophrenia as the control group in community, with their sex and ages matched with the ACT group. The research group received the Assertive Community Treatment while the control group still accepts the general community treatment. Evaluate the intervention effect of all the patients in the two groups at baseline and 12 months, then calculate and compare their Cost Benefit ratio.Results: 1.Effects: After 12 months' intervention, not only does the patients' mental symptoms and social function has the Assertive Community Treatment achieved good results, but also their health status, the degree of disability and caregiver burden have improved a lot.2.Cost benefit: For the control group in community its cost benefit is 4. 76. While for the ACT group, its cost benefit is 1. 00. Compared with the general treatment in community, the ACT group's Cost Benefit is obviously advantaged, even does it stable.Conclusion: It is suggested that, compared with the general community treatment, the Assertive Community Treatment is more effective, not only does it have better effects of treatment and rehabilitation, but also its cost benefit is obviously advantaged. It is suggested that ACT is an important approach for mental illness treatment and rehabilitation in community. Also it is worthy for further promotion and application.
