Objectives To explore the prevalence of behavioral problems among preschoolers in Yangpu District in Shanghai, and to discuss the related factors which lead to psychological and behavioral problems, this thesis aims at providing scientific evidence for children's mental health care. Methods With cluster random sampling, the questionnaires, Achenbach's Child Behavior Checklist(CBCL),Behavior Style Questionnaire(BSQ) and other self-made questionnaire were administered in a group setting to the main caregiver of 1824 children who aged between 4 and 6 years from 10 kindergartens of Yangpu District in Shanghai. Results The prevalence rate of behavioral problems in the study population was 26.42%, with the rates of 30.39% and 22.11% in the boys and girls respectively. There was statistically significant difference between them(C2=16.06,P<0.01). The first three behavioral problems in the boys were sexual problems, schizoidia and discipline violation, while the girls were obesity, sexual problems, and hyperactivity. High Maternal Age(OR=0.940), The Only Child(OR=0.612), An Outgoing Father(OR=0.559), Harmonious Family Relationship(OR=0.041), Easy Characteristics Type(OR=0.437) were found to be protective factors in the multivariate Logistic regression. On the other hand, Boy(OR=1.793), With Medical History(OR=1.617), Chronic Somatic Disease(OR=3.148), Have Traumatic Experiences(OR=5.582), Eating Snacks Twice Everyday(OR=1.722) or Eating Snacks Three Times Everyday(OR=2.938), A Drinking Mother(OR=1.735), A Mother With High School Diploma(OR=3.716), A Mother With Associate Diploma(OR=2.534), A Mother With Bachelor's Degree(OR=2.024) were found to be risk factors(P<0.05). Conclusions The study suggests the incidence of preschool children's behavioral and emotional problems be high, and moreover, the major problems is sexual problems. Preschool children are easily influenced by themselves and their family related factors. Meddle and Intervene in early behavioral problems of preschoolers is urgent. More attention should be paid to strengthen the health education of children's mental health problems. Tertiary prevention work of children from grassroots community is worth reiterating.
