Objective This study sets up an index system for the assessment of the transitional care nurses' core competence. The authority can make decisions on transitional care nurses' appointments, training and assessment properly. Thus, it puts forward the standardization and normalization of transitional care nursing in China.Methods The study sets up an index system for transitional care nurses to assess them, and find out their core competence depending on reviewing the related literatures,references of Chinese registered nurse core competence evaluation index and Chinese community nurses core competence evaluation index, and the related nursing experts semi-structured interviews. Using the Delphi method(Delphi), through 2 rounds of 26 expert advice to establish the transitional care nurses core competence evaluation index. By adopting Excel 2010, SPSS20.0 data entry and statistics analysis, and the use of AHP hierarchy analysis software, we get the proper weight value of corresponding level-1 and level-2 coefficients. It examines the scientific and the reliable of the Delphi method by computing the positive coefficient of experts, authority coefficient and expert opinion coordination degree.Results This study builds a transitional care nurses core competence evaluation index system, which have 6 level-1 indexes and 52 level-2 indexes in total. The weights of level-1 indexes are ranked in descending from professional practice(0.3377), communication and coordination(0.2297), the legal awareness and ethical quality(0.1517), critical thinking(0.1201), professional development(0.0898), to management(0.0711).The positive coefficient of two rounds of expert consultation are 87% and 100% respectively, the authority of the expert advisory coefficient is 0.825, judgment coefficient and familiar with the coefficient of 0.86 and 0.79 respectively. The importance of primary and secondary index score is 3.81~4.88, the coefficient of variation(CV) between 0.07~0.23, the coordination coefficient is 0.125~0.287, thecoordination coefficient of each index(W) significance test were statistically significant(P < 0.05).Conclusion This study builds a transitional care nurses core competence evaluation index system, and the expert opinion is concentrated, the result is scientific and reliable, which provide objective reference for our transitional care nursing personnel selection, the transitional care nurses' training and performance evaluation.
