Background Parkinson's disease(PD) also known as paralysis agitans, by British physician James Parkinson in 1817 as described for the first time, Is a kind of dopaminergic neuron degeneration and necrosis is the main pathological feature of neurodegenerative disease of the central nervous system. Its onset is slow, the main clinical manifestations resting tremor, rigidity, bradykinesia and postural abnormal, most associated with the autonomic nerve dysfunction. With the accelerated process of China's population aging, the incidence of PD increased year by year, however, at present, there is no radical cure method for PD. The long-term curative effect of the treatment is poor, which seriously affects the quality of life of the PD patients in China, and causes serious mental and economic burden to patients, families and society. Therefore, it is very important to resolve the pathogenesis of PD and to find a new therapeutic strategy for the disease. At present, oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction play an important role in the pathogenesis of PD. Therefore, the role of antioxidants in the pathogenesis and treatment of PD has become a hot research topic. Objective Indirect bilirubin(IBIL) and uric acid(UA) is inherent in the human body of antioxidants, and the antioxidant effect of bilirubin mainly lies in anti lipid peroxidation, and studies show that abnormal lipid metabolism in PD patients, soconsider the lipid and PD perhaps there was a correlation. The aim of this study is to observe and analyze the levels of serum indirect bilirubin(IBIL), uric acid,(UA) and blood lipids(cholesterol(CHOL), triglyceride(TG), high density lipoprotein(HDL), low density lipoprotein(LDL)) in patients with Parkinson's disease, and to analysis the possible relationship between these indexes and PD.Methods Take case-control study, selected the First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University in 2013 January to December 2015 inpatient and outpatient PD patients with 101 cases as PD group, there were 55 males and 46 females; the middle age group(age 65) in 42 cases, the elderly group(age>65) in 59 cases. In the same period, the physical examination center were randomly selected 156 healthy people matched for age and sex as the control group, there were 84 males and 72 females; the middle age group(age 65) in 67 cases, the elderly group(age >65) in 89 cases. To detect and record the level of serum bilirubin(IBIL),uric acid(UA) and lipids(CHOL, TG, HDL, LDL).Results The results showed that:(1)The total PD group serum IBIL, UA, CHOL, HDL and LDL levels were significantly lower than normal control group(P<0.05), the two groups in the serum TG level in comparison had no significant difference(P=0.278);(2)The male PD group and male control group: male PD group serum IBIL, UA HDL, CHOL, and LDL levels were lower than the male control group, there were statistically significant differences between the two groups(P<0.05), the two groups in the serum TG level of no significant difference(P=0.084);(3)The comparison of the female PD group and female control group: female PD group of IBIL, UA, CHOL, HDL levels were significantly lower than thecontrol group(P<0.05), but there was no significant difference between the two groups of serum LDL and TG levels(P-LDL=0.099,P-TG=0.851);(4)The comparison of the middle-aged PD group and middle-aged control group: two groups in serum IBIL, CHOL, HDL and LDL levels in comparison had statistical significance(P<0.05), and there is no significant difference in UA and TG levels between two groups(P-UA=0.088, P-TG=0.274);(5)Compared the elderly PD group and elderly control group: the elderly PD group of IBIL, UA, CHOL, HDL levels were significantly lower than the elderly control group(P<0.05), but there was no significant difference between the two groups of serum LDL and TG levels(PLDL=0.180, P-TG=0.639);(6)Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that serum levels of IBIL, UA, CHOL and HDL were negatively correlated with the presence of PD.(P<0.05).Conclusion The serum levels of IBIL, UA, CHOL, HDL and LDL were significantly decreased in PD patients. The IBIL, CHOL and HDL in different sex and age of the PD patients showed decreased;UA levels decrease mainly occurred in elderly PD patients,middle-aged patients with PD decreased the levels of UA are not obvious; lower the level of LDL mainly occurs in middle-aged PD patients and male PD patients, women and the elderly PD patients the level of LDL did not decrease significantly;IBIL and UA are the protective factors of PD.
