Atopic dermatitis(Atopic dermatitis, AD) is a chronic, recurrent, inflammatory skin disease.Typical rash of AD located in the chelidon, popliteal fossa, wrists, scalp, eyes and other joints and flexor skin folds, its main clinical features of severe itching, lateral flexion of recurrent skin eczema rashes, often accompanied by a rise in serum Ig E and skin infections.Galectin-10 is one of the grain protein after activation of eosinophils, the current study found that Galectin-10 as eosinophils involved in asthma, allergic rhinitis and other allergic diseases a potentially useful biomarkers, suggesting Galectin-10 as a new candidate markers of allergic diseases may be.Objective:This study intends to explore the Clinical significance of Galectin-10 in children with atopic dermatitis(AD), the relationship between Galectin-10 and activity of AD, and the relationship between Galectin-10 and food allergy. The results provide a new theoretical basis for the diagnosis and treatment of atopic dermatitis. Methods: Using ELISA method to detect Galectin- 10,3 kinds of serum specific Ig E, total Ig E and peripheral blood eosinophilis from 137 patients with atopic dermatitis patients and 25 healthy controls, and respectively discusses the correlation of Galectin-10 and s Ig E, serum total Ig E, peripheralblood eosinophilis and the relationship between Galectin-10 and disease severity score of AD.Results:1. Children with atopic dermatitis' s serum Galectin-10(29.736±18.358pg/ml)was significantly higher than that in the healthy controls(7.067±2.286pg/ml), p <0.001.2.Atopic dermatitis group's peripheral blood eosinophils( 0.160 ±0.106),was significantly higher than that in the healthy controls(0.042 ±0.021),P < 0.05.3.Children with atopic dermatitis' s serum Galectin-10 was positively correlated with peripheral blood eosinophilis, total Ig E(r = 0.207, p < 0.207)(r = 0.222, p < 0.05).4.The positive rate of serum Galectin-10 in the food s Ig E elevated group(75%) was higher than that in the food s Ig E normal group(54%), P<0.05.Also found that the elevated serum Galectin-10 have relationship with milk s Ig E(p= 0.036, p < 0.036), egg s Ig E(p = 0.002, p < 0.05), and not with dust mite s Ig E(p = 0.360, p > 0.360).5.The positive rate of peripheral blood eosinophils in the food s Ig E elevated group(68%) was higher than that in food s Ig E normal group(43%),P<0.05.6.The positive rate of serum Galectin-10 in children with atopic dermatitis was gradually declining with age( Less than 1 years old: 76%; 1-3years old: 61%; 3-7 years old: 49%; greater than 7 years old: 21%; p<0.05).7.Atopic dermatitis patient's serum Galectin-10 level and atopic dermatitis disease activity score(EASI scores) were positively correlated(r =0.216, p < 0.05).Conclusion: 1. Serum Galectin- 10 associated with atopic dermatitis, can be used as a reference index of AD disease activity.2. Serum Galectin-10 may be related to food allergies in AD.
