Epidemiological Investigation Of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Cases Which May Be Initiated By Infection Factors

Since June 2009,some “patients” continued to seek help from the health unit and told that they had similar acute symptoms of AIDS after risky sexual behavior,and they thought they had been infected with HIV or unknown viruses.The Ministry of health had paid more attention to this issue and organized research and consult immediately.In recent years,some research institutions and work teams were also actively involved in this research filed.However,these “patients” complained the symptoms were contradictory with their clinical detection results.For this phenomenon,The theory of psychological or pathogen infection has become the focus of debate.Our previous observation indicated that the crowd showed groups of features: severe fatigue,pain of systemic / topical muscle,joint pain,fever,night sweats,lymph node swell,sore throat,gingival recession,Thick white tongue coating and rash.Combined with the results of system analysis,their characteristics were similar with symptoms of CFS patients caused by pathogen infection.Therefore,in this issue we intended to use epidemiological investigation to observe and describe features of the "disease",and provide basic evidence for this hypothesis.The results are as follows:1.We took use of 3723 CFS-related research papers of Web of Science database that published during 2000—2014 and pattern visualization software CiteSpace? to draw scientific knowledge maps,and then we found that the research and exploration in the fields of CFS had made significant progress Internationally.Science teams of United States,Britain and other developed countries contributed most.The main research directions of CFS reach fields included the study of epidemiological investigation,central nervous system,immune disorders,psychological treatment,cognitive intervention,and the exploration of risk factors and etiology on CFS.2.In recent years,the main research front in CFS research fields was etiology of pathogen infection.Pathogens that may cause CFS involved mycoplasma,EB virus,enterovirus,Bernat Rickettsia,human herpes viruses,enteric gram-negative bacilli.Patients showed typical CFS-related symptoms after infection.3.Based on the survey of 425 CFS patients,we found that the 425 CFS patients were mainly male(86.12%),Suspicious routes of exposure were mainly risky sexual behavior(commercial sexual behavior and so on)(285 cases,67.06%).Main symptoms were related to the skin,respiratory tract,gastrointestinal tract,bones,muscles and nervous system.Main symptoms were severe fatigue,headache,muscle pain,joint pain,lymph node swell,and so on.Relevent Symptoms had a high degree of overlap with CFS caused by infection.Some patients had submitted their reports of clinical testing analysis.Abnormalities of CD4 / CD8 ratio were 139 cases(62.61%),and abnormal leukocyte / neutrophil / lymphocyte / monocyte were 120 cases(46.15%).These results agreed with our reasoning(risky sexual behavior may lead to pathogen infection,and then CFS symptoms).4.Site survey of 45 CFS patients displayed that their individual characteristics,clinical features,suspected routes of exposure were consistent with the findings of the network survery.Abnormal CD4 / CD8 ratio were 15 cases(33.33%),and PPD positive(++ ~ +++)were 16 cases(33.56%).The average value of Serum IgM / IgA and CRP of CFS patient group,were higher than the control group.This founding proved that,the observed crowd had biological characteristics of infection and inflammatory response,which further validated the study conclusion.5.By the family survey which included 32 families and 51 family members(parents,spouse,children,siblings),we found that 25 family members(49.02%)had been diagnosed with CFS.In addition,there were six family members(11.76%)diagnosed with chronic fatigue.These results showed that CFS patients caused by infection may present family aggregation.
