Objective: To evaluate the reliability and validity of the National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire(NEI-VFQ-25,the Chinese version). To assess and compare health related quality of life of diabetic retinopathy patients in hospital in different demographic characteristics and to obtain its influencing factor. Methods: Patients in hospital with or without diabetic retinopathy were tested using the socio-demographic characteristic questionnaire, the Chinese version of the National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire(NEI-VFQ-25)in a cross-sectional study.Convenience sampling was used to determine the subject of inquiry. The data of our survey includes general information(gender, age, disease progression, occupation, education, marital status, other chronic diseases, family medical history, etc.),the Chinese version-related quality of life of the National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire(NEI-VFQ-25)were collected.Data were typed-in using Epidata version3.2 and analyzed by SPSS(Statistical package for social sciences)for windows,version16.0.Statistical description of the data was expressed as constituent ratio, mean and standard deviation;Statistical analysis were performed by t-test,analysis of variance, correlation analysis, exploratory factor analysis and liner regression. Results:In this study,a total of 395 completed questionnaires, which include 136 people are diabetic patients without diabetic retinopathy, accounting for 34.43% of the total;259are patients with diabetic retinopathy,188 are patients with simplex diabetic retinopathy, accounting for 72.59% of the diabetic retinopathy patients;71 patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy, accounting for 27.41% of the diabetic retinopathy patients. For face-to-face survey, this study hand out 400 questionnaires,recycling400,which recovery rate was 100%.To quality control of all of the questionnaire, rejecting the missing value in the questionnaire, more than 20% of 5 questionnaire, questionnaire 98.75% efficient. In NEI-VFQ-25 scale aspects of reliability, the degree of internal uniformity among the items was expressed by Cronbach's ? coefficient. The overall Cronbach's ? coefficient of the total scale was 0.840,all dimensions were above0.7,which indicated the scale had a good internal uniformity.Split-half reliability of the total scale was 0.896 and almost all the dimensions were above 0.6.At the same time, the scale has good content validity and structure validity, coefficient of different dimensions and related items are > 0.6,p < 0.001).Patients with diabetic retinopathy in different gender, age, marital status, educational level, occupation, family income differences of survival quality score no statistical significance(P > 0.05),but the survival quality score cannot obvious diabetes quality of life of patients with diabetic retinopathy score higher than that of patients with diabetic retinopathy,at the same time, simplex the survival of patients with diabetic retinopathy in patients with type quality score higher than that of proliferative diabetic retinopathy. In whether to accept the insulin treatment duration of diabetes, whether suffering from other chronic diseases, scores of each dimension differences were significant(P < 0.05).Through liner regression analysis, the results show that fasting blood sugar level, systolic blood pressure on admission, glycated hemoglobin, whether suffering from other chronic diseases and whether insulin injections are factors affecting the quality of survival in patients with diabetic retinopathy.Conclusion:1.The National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire scale(NEI-VFQ-25,Chinese version)has good feasibility, reliability and validity, which can be taken as a good scale and evaluation tool for the quality of life of the patients with diabetic retinopathy.2.The survival of patients with diabetic retinopathy quality lowest, significantly lower than the diabetic patients without retinopathy3.Patients with diabetic retinopathy in different gender, age, marital status, educational level, occupation, family income survival quality score differences had no statistical significance. In whether to accept the insulin treatment duration of diabetes, whether suffering from other chronic diseases, significant difference were observed in the score of each dimension fasting blood sugar level, systolic blood pressure on admission, glycated hemoglobin, whether suffering from other chronic diseases and whether insulin injections are factors affecting the quality of survival in patients with diabetic retinopathy.
