Objective: To evaluate the feasibility of pearl powder as the external application medicine of burn wound. Methods: 41 patients with superficial two-degree burn were selected, and the selected patients were good health except burns.According to the random number table, two groups were divided: even numbers into the observation group,a total of 21 cases, facial wounds were coated with pearl powder and exposure therapy;odd numbers into the control group,a total of 20 cases, facial wounds were coated with silver sulfadiazine and exposure therapy.Operation Steps: first, clean the wounds with saline, prick blisters and drain fluid, then, the patients in observation group received treatment that facial wounds were coated with pearl powder, the patients in control group received treatment that facial wounds were coated with silver sulfadiazine.application once daily, stopped application after the wound with scabs.other parts of the wound were bandaged with iodine gauze,The dressing was changed every other day.Outcome Measures: on the first day, covered the facial wounds with plastic film, and described the shape of the facial wounds, then took photos with digital camera, eventually get the actual area(cm2)of facial wounds with the Photoshop software;measured the wound area again on the seventh day and the tenth day,These data were used to calculate the facial wound healing rate;on the first day and after cure, blood samples were collected for blood routine test, blood urea nitrogen, creatinine,ALT;observed the wounds every day,if there was pus, redness, fever and other signs of infection, bacterial culture would be carried out, recorded the healing time after cure.Fianlly carried on the statistical analysis. Results: after a week, the facial wound healing rate of observation group((44.81±13.80)%)was higher than that of control group((34.25±15.81)%),the difference was significant(P<0.05);after 10 days, the facial wound healing rate of observation group((93.81±10.61)%)was higher than that of control group((83.40 ± 10.88)%),the difference was significant(P<0.05);the facial wound average healing time of observation group(9.38±1.75 days)was shorter than the control group(11.35 ± 1.76days),the difference was significant(P<0.05);the infection proportion of observation group(9.52%)was higher than that of control group(5%),but the difference was not significant(P>0.05);laboratory indexes(blood routine, blood urea nitrogen, creatinine,ALT)is not exactly the same between two groups, but all of them were in the normal range(including 3 cases of perioral infection),no clinical significance. Conclusion: The pearl powder was used as the external application of the wound to treat two-degree burn wounds of the face, and the result was satisfactory. The anti infection effect of pearl powder is similar to silver sulfadiazine;otherwise, pearl powder can promote the healing, while anti-inflammatory and detumescence action.it is safe,non-toxic,pure natural.Pearl powder can be used as a substitute for silver sulfadiazine in the treatment of superficial two-degree burn in the face. However, due to the small number of samples, the application of a narrow range, whether it can be applied to other parts, other depth, other age? How is the treatment mechanism? It is necessary to study further.
