The Case Report Of Healing Vertical Food Impaction By Occlusal Adjustment

Background:Food impaction commonly known as pluging teeth.Food impaction is the phenomenon appearing in the chewing course when the food dregs or fibers are pushed into the clearance by occlusal force or owning to the gingival shrinkage.Its a very common phenomenon.By the standards of teeth with food impaction which have ever happened,prevalence of more than ninety percent in the crowed,some age is close to one hundred percent.There are many reasons to canse food impaction,the treatment is complicated.Clinically mainly aimed at the etiology and treatment of symptoms.Vertical food impaction is relatively more common in molar area in the out patient setting.In those cases,some teeth with food impaction have normol adjacency relations(0.04 0.09mm)but rugged marginal ridge or mild malocclusion,ex-cess and asymmetric abrasion of occlusal.Contact area is not normol form,the position of contact area is close to gum or lingual side or buccal side,filling type cusp of the jaw teeth.This kind of food impaction uses occlusal adjustment by grinding the shape of the teeth.Usually it can obtain good therapeutic effect.Because there are the physical abrasion of teeth,as the pathologic states of dental hard tissues and peridental tissue,oral eviromental and tooth column state change,the patients must check regularly.Objective:This research aims to analysis the cause of vertical food impaction,and to observe the effect of occlusal adjustment,looking forward to provide the reference for clinical.Methods:Collecting 6 patients diagnosed with vertical food impaction in dalian medical university dental hospital from january 2015 to january 2016.Including 5cases of male,1 famale,from 30 to 60 years old.All the 6 patients with complete dentition and normol adjacency relation.Learn more about the patients' chief complain,acquisition of the history.According to clinical examination,analysis the cause of vertical food impaction.oral preparations,communicating with the patients,then making treatment plan.Follow-up 6 months,evaluate clinical effect of occulsal adjustment treatment by clinical examination.Results:A week later,5 patients were cured by occlusal adjustment,1patient showed significant improvement.Do occlusal adjustment again.Returning visit a week later,the patient was cured.Following-up 6 months,6 patients satisfied with therapeutic effect.Conclusion:Vertical food impaction with normol adjacency relations,ex-cess and asymmetric abrasion of occlusal.Occlusal adjustment is an extremely simple,effective treatment method.
