Objective:To inherit and promote Professor Yue Rensong's experience and academic thought, and provide new study perspective, by finding out his treatment method and regular characteristic in prescribing medicine, and summarise the core concept of Professor Yue's principle of Chinese medicine treatment.Methods:All prescription collected is from Professor Yue Rensong's pre and post menopausal syndrome outpatients in Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine teaching hospital endocrinology department during 2012-2014. With clinical theory innovation as the primary foundation, drug-syndrome as the guiding principle, to summarise, compare and analyse raw clinical data of menopausal syndrome treatment from various aspect. Finding out the most frequent drug and prescription used, and analysed according to four natures, five flavours, meridian attribution and function of drugs.Results:(1) A summarised of total 123 drugs used in 160 prescriptions,5 drugs is frequently used in more than half of the prescriptions, which is Radix Glycyrrhiza 150, Ziziphus jujuba 94, Radix Polygalae86, Ramulus Cinnamomi 84, Semen Ziziphi Spinosae 80.15 drugs frequently used in over 50 prescriptions, which is Radix Glycyrrhiza 150, Ziziphus jujuba 94, Radix Polygalae86, Ramulus Cinnamomi 84, Semen Ziziphi Spinosae 80, Radix Rehmanniae 72, Caulis Polygoni Multiflori 72, Rhizoma Pinelliae 68, Radix Bupleuri 64, Bulbus Lilii 58, Rhizoma Acori Graminei 54, Radix Paeoniae Alba 52, Radix Scutellariae 52, Radix Saposhnikoviae 50, Radix Stephaniae Tetrandrae 50. (2) A summary of Professor Yue's commonly used 20 herbs medicinal effect, which is mainly replenishing Qi, calms the mind, clear heat, nourish Yin, harmonising Ying and Wei, warmth Yang, stop sweating, harmonising Shaoyang, expelling wind-damp. Among all, Radix Glycyrrhiza, Ziziphus jujuba, Radix Ginseng, Radix Codonopsis, Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Poria replenish Qi and invigorate the Spleen function; others such as Semen Ziziphi Spinosae, Radix Polygalae, Caulis Polygoni Multiflori, Rhizoma Acori Graminei, Ossa Draconis nourished the Heart and calms the mind; Bulbus Lilii, Radix Rehmanniae, Ramulus Cinnamomi, Radix Paeoniae Alba clears heat and nourishes Yin, astringe Yin and reduce sweating. (3) From 20 major drug used, it is clearly shown that "Sweet-warm", "Bitter-cold" as the main compatibility of medicines Professor Yue uses, featured by "Sweet" (14 herbs) as main and in combination with "Bitter" (7 herbs) as complementary, which is "Replenish Qi with Sweet-warm" in combination with "clearing heat and astringe Yin". (4) According to meridian attribution of drugs, Heart, Spleen and Lung Channel are the most common, and the second are Liver, Stomach and Kidney Channel. This shows that Professor Yue treats pre and post menopausal syndrome by "nourishing the Heart and invigorate the Spleen" and in combination with "nourishing Kidney and soothing Liver".Conclusion:It shows that replenish Qi and invigorate the Spleen function, nourish the Heart and calm the mind, clear Heat and nourish Yin, invigorating Yang-Qi, astringe Yin and reduce sweating are the main treatment principles, and also shows the main pathogenesis of menopausal syndrome using the Five Zang viscera as the core syndrome differentiation, which is Kidney defeciancy as the root cause, imbalance of Organ Qi-Blood and Yin-Yang. Thereby summarising the basic common drugs used for pre and post menopausal syndrome:Radix Rehmanniae, Bulbus Lilii, Radix Bupleuri, Rhizoma Pinelliae, Radix Polygalae, Ramulus Cinnamomi, Semen Ziziphi Spinosae, Radix Saposhnikoviae, Radix Stephaniae Tetrandrae, Radix Glycyrrhiza, Ziziphus jujuba, applicable for Kidney-Yin deficiency, Spleen and Heart deficiency, providing a foundation for future study developing new drugs.
