The innovation of global medical technology and information and the increased requirement for public health service have contributed to the rapid development of the medical industry. As the deeper reform of national public health system, the management of the hospital has been put forward higher requirements. With new opportunities and challenges, the primary task o f Hunan Children's Hospital is how to adapt to the market to explore an effective development.Under the guidance of the theory of enterprise developmental strategy, this study has analyzed the macro and industry environment, development status and core competitiveness by PEST analysis and Five Forces Model, and the internal and external environment of the hospital by SWOT analysis. Moreover, the study has discussed the strategy of Hunan Children's Hospital from three levels: the overall strategy, competitive strategy and functional strategy. It is concluded that the combination of intensive growth strategy and the integrated strategy could be an option as well as differentiated competitive strategy. The developmental strategy of the hospital should be formulated by the following aspects: the health service system of children, the construction of information system and strategic cooperation. The study has investigated the implementation and risk prevention of the developmental strategy of hospital, and addressed the safeguards of implementation from the organization, human resource, medical technology and hospital culture.This study can provide a useful reference for the development strategy of Hunan Children's Hospital in the next five years. It is also a valuable reference to the same type of public hospitals and special hospitals.
