Potato is one of four major food crops in China.Because potato has excellent characteristics such as tolerance of dry,leanness-resistant,high and stable yields etc,its the main grain and economic crops in China.Yunnan province is located in China's southwest border whose natural climatic conditions is suitable to growth and development of potato.However,the current situation of potato production in Yunnan province is still mainly based on the farmers scattered planting.Whether the planning effect is good or whether it is suitable for planting are only judged by experience,which lacks of scientific basis.In this paper,the climate suitability of potato planting in Yunnan province is divided by region,which provides a scientific reference for the layout planning of potato industry in Yunnan Province.In order to proceed climate suitability regionalization on potato planting in Yunnan Province,this paper combines previous studies on physiological ecology of potato growth and adopts expert scoring method,analytic hierarchy process and other methods to establish evaluation index system of climate suitability for potato planting in Yunnan.The system is based on the data of Yunnan geographic information and temperature,precipitation,sunshine hours and other meteorological data deriving from 125 meteorological stations in Yunnan Province.Each evaluation index is divided into 3 zones: the most suitable area,the suitable area and the sub suitable area.On the basis of the evaluation system,a comprehensive evaluation model is constructed.Using the geographic information system(GIS)technology,proceed climatic suitability regionalization of potato planting in Yunnan province.The research results are visualized and displayed in the form of thematic maps.Analyze and evaluate the suitability of each grade region.Finally,propose suggestions and countermeasures on potato planting layout and management of optimal sub-region according to the actual situation of potato production in Yunnan province.The experimental results show that the most suitable climatic area for planting potato in Yunnan mainly distribute in northeast Yunnan,high altitude ecological region in northwest Yunnan and part of the area in western Yunnan.According to the statistical results of zoning,the total area is 1.320×105km2,which accounts for 31.1% of the total area of Yunnan province.The suitable area mainly distribute in eastern Yunnan and western Yunnan.The total area is 2.060×105km2,which accounts for 48.6% of the total area of Yunnan province.The rest regions are basically in the range of the sub suitable area except the most suitable area and suitable area.The distribution is mainly central Yunnan.The total area is 8.621×104km2,which accounts for 20.3% of the total area of Yunnan province.The results provide a guideline for the scientific cultivation of potato in Yunnan province from the theoretical point of view,reduce the blindness of site selection and improve the quality and yield of potato,which provides a theoretical basis for further expansion of potato planting in Yunnan province and sustainable utilization of resources.
