The Study On Landscape Effect And Species Composition Of The Campus Six Universities In Guangzhou

This research conducted field study to the main building areas,major entrances, street areas,square green lands of South China Agricultural University,Tianhe Campus of South China University of technology,Tianhe Campus of South China Normal University,Haizhu Campus of Zhongshan University, Yuexiu Campus of Guangdong Industrial University and Haizhu Campus of Zhongkai University of Agriculture and Engineering, and analyzed their species characteristics and landscapes,to discuss the effect of landscape plants on campus landscapes and the construction of characteristic culture in Guangzhou's colleges and universities.The results have showed that:(1) there are 324 kinds of vascular plants in investigation areas,and could be divided into 90 families and 216 genera, dominated by tropical plants in investigation areas.(2)among the four investigation regions,main building areas have most diversified green plant species,and Ficus microcarpa is the most common arbor here, Ficus microcarpa cv.Golden Leaves and loropetalum chinense var. rubrum among the shrubs most frequently seen here;entrance areas rank seconds in terms of the species of green plants. Entrance areas grow a variety of arbors and shrubs,livistona chinesi and bauhinia are arbors commonly found here,and Globeamaranth, Altemanthera ficoidea and Hymenocallis Americana are shrubs mostly frequently seen in the areas;square green lands have the richest species of shrubs,dominated by colored-leaf plants and flowering plants like Ficus microcarpa cv.Golden Leaves, Loropetalum chinense,carmona microphylla and Phoenix loureirii;Street areas grow plants with least species,such as ficus microcarpa,Ficus virens var.sublanceolata,Cajeput,roystonea regia,mango and other arbors.(3)according to the comparison results of the average values of beauty degrees,square green lands have the highest average values,as they have large green space,with most diversified plant species and rich landscape features; followed by main building green lands and major street green lands. Entrance green lands have the lowest average value with relatively big differences.Some entrances have good layout of green plants,reflecting the characteristics of campus,but some do not have insufficient green space,growing sparse plants and lacking features.The Cultural Square of South China Normal University in No.27 had the highest score,while Guangdong University of Technology in No.4 had the lowest score.Campus landscape can be realized through the layout of shrubs and arbors, and reasonable layout of plants can create space hierarchy, colored-leaf plants should match evergreen plants or flowering plants if necessary,to highlight the color changes of plants. And plants must be suitable for the atmosphere of sites, in addition, native plants can be placed to enhance the local characteristics.
