Research Of Forest Resources Growth And Decline Trends And Their Conservation Strategy In Zhejiang Province

Forestland is important natural and strategic resource.It is the foundation of survival and development for forests.It is core to secure wood and forest product supplies,and to protect homeland ecological safety.It possesses a special position in dealing with global climate change.Zhejiang Province is at fast development stage of industrialization and urbanization,facing increasing pressure of resources and environment.Economic and social development remands more and more from forests,and their conservation situation is serious.Research of forest resources growth and decline trends and their conservation strategy in Zhejiang Province has important meanings to achieve forestland scientific management and secure homeland ecological safety.This paper utilizes forest resource monitoring data in the recent more than 60 years since P.R.China was founded,and uses time series trend analysis and Markov chain transition probability model prediction method to analyze and predict forestland area change in Zhejiang Province.Our results indicated that forest resource change in Zhejiang is clearly periodic,with larger fluctuation in the period after founding of P.R.China and before the Reforming and Opening(1949~1978),and rapid growth in the period after the Reforming and Opening and before 2004(1979~2004),and growth slowing down and decline in recent years(2005~2014).Forest resources exhibit an overall trend of decreasing.Our prediction of the growth and decline trends of forestland area indicated that in the next few years forestland area in Zhejiang will still gradually decreases.In order to enhance forest conservation and management,and mitigate forestland decline,our research proposes strategy and recommendations such as economical and intensive forest resource utilization,enhanced forest conservation and management,and positive forest supplement.
