In this paper,urine volatile components on six kinds of companion animals of the giant pandas were analyzed with Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.The urine of herbivores and predators contain alkane,grease,acid,phenol,alcohol and other compounds,but carnivorous animal urine generally contain C24H50S2,and herbivores lack this substance.The behavioral tests were performed on the giant panda using 0.4%?0.6%?0.8%of three different concentrations of C24H50S2 odor,The main results were as follows:1 Effect on time spent engaging in chemosensory investigation of scent from different concentrations:giant pandas spent significantly more time on the odor of C24H50S2 than the control.The time of exploratory behavior on the 0.6%concentration were significantly higher than the smell of the concentration of 0.4%?P<0.01?,The time of exploratory behavior on the 0.4%concentration were significantly higher.than the smell of the concentration of 0.8%?P<0.05?,There was no significantly difference between the concentration of 0.4%and 0.8%?P=0.521?.2 Effect on frequency of flehmen behavior of scent from different concentrations;giant pandas displayed significantly more flehmen behavior on the odor of C24H50S2 than the control.The frequency of flehmen behavior on the concentration of 0.6%were significantly higher than the smell of the concentration of 0.4%?P<0.01?,The frequency of flehmen behavior on the concentration of 0.6%were also significantly higher than the smell of the concentration of 0.8%?P<0.05?,There was no significantly difference between the concentration of 0.4%and 0.8%?P=0.521?.3 Effect of different concentrations of C24H50S2 on vigilant behavior and flight reactions of giant pandas:There was no vigilant behavior and flight reactions in the control group,and vigilant behavior in the number of occurrences of each group are less.Six subjects displayed strong reactions to C24H50S2 by retreating rapidly after first detection.There was more vigilant behavior on the concentration of 0.6%than 0.4%and 0.8%.4 Effect of C24H50S2 on behavior between males and females:the males spent significantly more time on chemosensory investigation in response to C24H50S2 than females;also the male displayed significantly more flehmen behavior in response to C24H50S2 than females,Wary of C24H50S2 smell behavior were no significant differences between male and female individualsThe results indicate that C24H50S2 was the effective material what leads to vigilant behavior of the giant pandas,Giant panda can distinguish different concentrations of C24H50S2,at the same time,captive pandas escape behavior have certain degradation.
