Study On The Construction Techniques Of Traditional Rammed Earth Dwellings In Gansu Province

China is currently in the process of rapid urbanization,in the context of the western development and rural revitalization plan,in Gansu region,which is located in the less developed area of northwest China,the contradiction of the rural living environment is becoming increasingly prominent.As one of the representatives of Gansu’s traditional architectural culture,traditional rammed earth dwellings has gradually faded from people’s perspective,and the construction techniques that better stand for the agricultural civilization have also disappeared.Therefore,it is an important and urgent task for the rescue research,recording and analysis of the existing traditional construction techniques.Given the reality,complexity and comprehensiveness of the subject,this article takes a cultural geography perspective,combined field survey method,analytic hierarchy process and typical case study method to conduct extensive basic research and summary in Gansu region.Based on this,the traditional rammed earth dwellings in Gansu were zoned and the regional characteristics of the zoning were summarized.The main body of the article is divided into two parts.The first part is the basic research in the region.First of all,the article interprets and summarizes the practical issues that have emerged from the literature review,uses cultural geography as the methodological basis,divides the Gansu region into regions,and forms the boundaries of the research object.Then select research cases with representative and inspiration in each sub-area to explore the diversity characteristics of traditional rammed earth dwellings.The second part is the record research of the construction techniques,which is divided into two aspects: noumenon construction and craftsmanship system.Noumenon construction includes site selection,material preparation,construction.The craftsmanship system includes the craftsman pedigree,the use of tools,the craftsman’s knack and so on.By combining the perspectives of cultural geography and building materials,this paper comprehensively explains the generation mechanism of traditional dwellings.Finally,the article clarifies the elements of the construction of traditional rammed earth dwellings and extracts the good genes,then provides the assistance of modern science and technology to the deficiency.The typical cases analyzed in the text were selected to be modified to try to resolve the contradiction between the continuation of traditional cultural genes and the optimization of the livingenvironment.To summarize the appropriate construction mode and system to provide reference for the renovation of local residential areas.
