As the widespread application of the GPRS wireless communication,the Internet and the GPS in the civilian fields,the unity using of these three technologies has become a very hot research area.General the Packed Radio Service(GPRS)using TCP/IP protocol,it is very easy to integrate with the existing Internet technology and application platform.It means that integrating all kinds of IP technologies and services with mobile communication technologies together,to provide customers with many high speed,high quality kinds of mobile data communication service.The mobile communication of GPRS has the characteristics with low price,fast logging in,always online,flexible networking,security channel,and small power lightning protection.So the GPRS has gradually replaced the GSM network.This dissertation introduces the system constitutions,design ideas and key technologies based on GPS-GPRS tracking system.This system can receive the GPS positioning information by the positioning front-end equipment,and then sending the information to the FTP server through GPRS network,and real-time marked on the map.When the GPRS connection is not stable,the positioning front-end equipment can be also send text message to the SMS Modem in the monitor terminal.The users can send the instructions by the appointed mobile phone,to command the positioning front-end equipment adjusting the parameters,changing the send target mobile phone numbers,etc.
