By access to information,market research and other studies found that Chinese traditional products contain rich cultural connotations,they are the carriers of Chinese culture.Most of the current products are meaningless accumulated by functions,forms,colors and patterns,and more and more intense.The former's products have soul,fresh vitality and Endless charm because of culture infiltration,while the latter are dull and can not remember.How to make current products have the same soul and vitality as the traditional products is the issue that this thesis is thinking about.Through a large number of studies found that symbol is an important way to connect traditional culture and products.Therefor,this article selects the most symbolic representation of the three elements of color,pattern and style of symbolic elements to explore the use of symbolic elements about product design methods,in order to be able to make the previous "unconscious" use of the symbol into today's "conscious" use of symbol to design products.This article is divided into six chapters,the first chapter:the introduction;the second chapter:the exploration of symbol and products;the third chapter:the method analysis of symbolic method used in product design;the fourth chapter:symbol achievement in product design;the fifth chapter:Design practice;the sixth chapter:Research summary and prospects.Finally,the conclusions are drawn as follows:1.Symbolic culture is a cultural phenomenon that accompanied by human activities;2.Symbolism is commonly found in traditional products;3.Symbolism can be used as a method for product design;4.Explore easy-to-use methods to help designers use the symbol for current product design consciously;5.Culturally meaningful products help to cross the borderline of general product and art,with high added value.
