Situational Awareness Training For The Engine Room Resources Management

As an indispensable part of crew training in the engine department,the course of Engine Room Resource Management course has become a key tool for solving human factors in crew training.Practice has proved that the development of Engine Room Resource Management has exactly played a positive role.However,the cultivation of situational awareness has become a weak link in the training of engine room resource management,and it needs to be constantly strengthened.In this paper,relevant data was collected by means of reference to a large number of related documents,interviews with officers of the engine department and questionnaires from relevant personnel.Raising and training of situational awareness of engine room resource management were studied mainly from the learning of engine knowledge,association study of engine management,formation of a good work attitude,distribution of attention,envision of situation,study of engine management cases and other aspects.In addition,on this basis,a frame system for situational awareness training of engine room resource management was established in this paper.Quantitative analysis was made by using analytic hierarchy process and weights of all factors in the situational awareness training system of engine room resource management were obtained.According to the above research results,the author summarizes the training contents of situational awareness of engine room resource management and identifies the training priorities.To effectively evaluate the final training effect,this paper constructs a nontechnical competence framework in the end so as to further grasp the training effect through the scores gained by trainees.By way of analysis and deduction,this paper concludes that the association study in engine room management accounts for 60%of situational awareness cultivation,thus it is the most important part of situational awareness cultivation,while the association among the internal aspects of the engine becomes a top priority in the association study.Personnel’s safety awareness in non-technical training has a great influence on the cultivation of situational awareness and demands close attention during examination.Whether personnel safety knowledge has been effectively learned is the basis of personnel’s safety awareness.Clarifying the complex relationships in engine room resource management and making effective use of them provide a clearer direction for situational awareness cultivation.
